I have been coming to Atman for years. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Chai is great and the eggs benedict is very good. Most of the desserts are great too!
The service is okay, or average, incredibly slow but not sometimes, always slow! One occasion i ordered a meal take away before leaving for the airport thinking 20 minutes max considering it was quiet and it was not. Infact it was more than 30 and the order was wrong anyway though I didn't mind. Now this morning we were the only customers when we sat and ordered. The food took 30 minutes and it was eggs on toast.... The coffee took 2 minutes but was cold.
I'm not complaining as it is Bali though Atman is consistently incredibly slow, really really slow.
I must also share this.. There was a plate with rice holding long polished crystals I picked one up then when I put it back the one next to it rolled off the wooden plate and broke on the floor. Now yes I did break it but you have a reponsibility to create a secure environment for your products. This was 1 year ago and I would be the one who prompted the change in arrangements as I spoke to the manager. I did pay, in agreeance I broke it but was it my fault. No
I come to Bali and love the culture, the people. It's the best part, secondly the food. I feel some establishments bastardise the culture, who are kind and friendly, by creating pressure and expectations.
My suggestion? Stick to food Atman. Your staff will value what they do if it doesn't include selling and or watching products that are now scattered around the...
Read moreUnfortunately an overall negative experience for me. I came here specifically for the gluten-free pizza, and I made sure to specify it was a gluten “allergy” not preference because I have celiac disease. When it came out, there was no cheese. Let me tell you I have been months without pizza and I was so excited to finally have it, and not having mozzarella was very disappointing. I informed a staff member and they said they could bring me out some cheese to add. Unfortunately, a second staff member then came out and said they could not add mozzarella because they already added cashew “cheese”. I explained I didn’t order dairy free, only gluten-free and I would prefer mozzarella. No solution was offered, I just got something along the lines of “it does have cheese” and that was it. First of all, as someone who needs an order to be correct for physical well-being, an incorrect order is already scary in that it shows you either weren’t listened to or misunderstood. Secondly, I completely blew my meger backpacker budget on what I thought was going to be a special treat, only to be served an unsatisfactory item. I stuck with 2 stars because the food wasn’t bad…I just really wish I knew what it could’ve been if it...
Read moreThis is the first bad review I have to write in Bali. This place is pretty new so they still have lots to learn, but to put it simply : this is what happen when a place tries too hard instead of keeping it simple. There is a good intention of serving raw food, vegan dishes, gluten, dairy-free options etc, which I praise even if it's not my thing. They also serve lots of european dishes. But the problem is there are just too many things on the menu, and for a result, food is not enjoyable. I had cheese fettuccine (yes, I really miss home and wanted a change from local food) - they were extra oily and bland. What is advertised as parmeggiano is probably cheap grana padano - at least tastes like it. Then I had a hot chocolate which was good, alongside a slice of carrot cake which was plain bad : the ingredients are nice but the recipe is not okay, it was floury, doughy, undercooked - I do not mean moist, but undercooked. Sad, because it did look very good. Overall, a disappointment, and not a cheap one ... but the location is wonderful and the staff very professional and friendly, I hope they can make some progress...
