✨ Best Indian Food Outside India – Andhra Bhavan, A Culinary Gem! 🇮🇳
If you're craving authentic Indian flavors that take you straight back home, look no further than Andhra Bhavan. Hands down, this has been the best Indian meal I’ve had outside of India — and I’ve traveled quite a bit!
We tried both the Andhra Special Thali and the Vegetarian Thali, and let’s just say: the "before and after" pictures of our plates tell the full story — completely wiped clean!
🌶️ Highlights from the Andhra Special Thali:
The eggplant curry was smoky, rich, and absolutely divine. Kurkuren tindoras (crispy ivy gourd) – crunchy, spiced to perfection, addictive! Chicken curry – flavorful with just the right amount of heat. Mutton curry – tender, deeply spiced, and a clear favorite. Spicy chicken starter – bold, aromatic, and oh-so-good. Classic sides like sambar, rasam, daal, and bagara rice brought the whole experience together beautifully. Every dish on the thali had its own distinct flavor and character — nothing felt repetitive or bland. And the best part? We ended this incredible feast on a sweet note with soft, syrupy gulab jamun and warm gajar ka halwa.
🍽️ Portion Tips:
The Andhra Special Thali is generously sized — perfect for 3 adults or 2 adults + 2 kids. The Veg Thali is ideal for 2 adults.
🙏 Service Shoutout: We were served by Prachi, who was super sweet, attentive, and a fantastic host. She made the whole experience even more memorable with her warm hospitality and friendly demeanor. Thank you, Prachi!

Read moreI could not be more disappointed about our dinner at Andhra Bhavan earlier tonight (especially since I have enjoyed a nice meal here before). I came from out of town to celebrate my and my friend's birthday (which I stated in the booking). The waitress who took our order was nice and helpful. The food was served promptly and was very tasty. However, our main courses were brought to the table when we were only halfway through our starter (all the dishes barely fitted on the table). It felt very rushed. After a while another waitress came and asked if we were finished and proceded to taking our plates away before we could even answer. She then came back a few minutes later to check if we wanted anything else or if we wanted the bill. We said that we were fine. She came back again very quickly to ask again if we wanted the bill. My friend responded that we would just like to sit a bit longer (we had not yet finished our drinks) and she replied that we could stay but that she would bring the bill anyway. She dropped the piece of paper on the table straight after and asked us to pay. When we said that we felt pressured to finish our drinks and leave the restaurant she told us that there were people queueing and they needed us to vacate the table and that they had a 90 minute time limit per booking (which wasn't mentioned anywhere in the booking confirmation). I've never had an experience like this before when out for a meal that cost over a 100 euros. I left feeling upset and with a bad impression. Needless to say, we won't be returning or recommend this restaurant for a...
Read moreMy first visit to Andhra Bhavan was nothing short of spectacular, proving that some experiences are truly worth the wait. Despite standing in line for over an hour to secure a table, the moment the food arrived, any memory of the wait evaporated—the experience was utterly rewarding. The culinary quality here is exceptional. Every dish we sampled was expertly seasoned, showcasing perfectly balanced spices that celebrate genuine South Indian authenticity. The portions are substantial and the ingredients are fresh, making every bite flavorful and completely satisfying. While everything was incredible, I would especially highly recommend the lamb biryanis to anyone looking for rich, aromatic flavors. Two dishes, in particular, stood out as highlights of the meal. The Pepper Lamb Fry was outstanding, featuring robust, fiery flavor paired with a remarkably tender texture. Meanwhile, the Gunpowder Masala Dosa was a delightful masterpiece—perfectly crisp and generously coated in spicy gunpowder, leaving a delightful and lasting impression. Beyond the food, the ambience and service contributed significantly to the memorable evening. The staff handled the busy environment efficiently, and our server, Prachi, provided the pinnacle of customer service. She was polite, attentive, and quick, ensuring we felt well cared for throughout our meal. Andhra Bhavan is a genuine celebration of quality and tradition. I will undoubtedly be back again soon to dive deeper...
