Finally a authentic Irish Bar close to the Temple Bar area we are staying. We spent the first few nights getting robbed at the Temple Bar establishments...saw a American flag here and said what the heck. Once inside the bartender Martin, I believe, treated us like family. He taught us the amazing sport of hurling and made us feel right at home. After spending hundreds and hundreds of wasted Euros in tourist traps, we finally found a authentic place with authentic genuine people. Martin is the man! Exactly what we were looking for in Ireland! We will be back more than once during our stay!...

When we arrived it was upstairs at a small pub and the surroundings were perhaps a bit rough and ready, so I was a bit unsure. Read moreLast Friday spent a few hours in the Chaplins pub with my brother, left to catch my Train to Offaly , everything was fine, leaving my elderly brother behind who was catching a later train to Mullingar, He rings me to say the manager has thrown him out of the pub, saying he did not want his type , what ever that means, both of us are Dublin born, my brother who speaks perfect German has worked in Austria and England, has never been treated with such off hand rudeness and aggression in a foreign country much less his home town.
