We were really looking forward to this place, especially with all the glowing reviews (4.7 Stars!), but we left disappointed.
Both pasta dishes were really lacking. The sauce was barely there, which made everything quite dry and bland. We upgraded to the larger portion and it felt like the only thing that increased was the amount of plain pasta and not the toppings too. The bacon in the carbonara was very sparse, just a few small pieces here and there, and it was the same story with the other dish. It just didn’t feel balanced, tasty or satisfying. I had to ask for extra cheese and also bacon just so I don't feel like I am eating plain pasta.
Also tried the tiramisu, but after one spoonful we pushed it aside, just not good. What made it worse was that no one checked in on us at any point during the meal. Not once. No “How’s everything?” or even a glance in our direction, literally, this was one of the situations when I actually was hoping someone would check in.
With the hype and the rating, we expected much more. We won’t be coming back that's for sure.
Lastly, the phone number that's displayed (when you do a Google search for the place) it's not working...
Read moreI'm really glad to have found this cafe as it reminded me how it feels to be back home in Italy, both with its calm and familiar atmosphere and the delicious renditions of traditional dishes. The staff was also very kind and explained to me how to order. There I ordered a plate of Carbonara for €11,50 (€12 with cheese), by choosing the type of pasta(in my case tagliatelle) and the condiments, it didn't take too long for the plate to arrive at which point I found myself with a very good looking dish. The fresh pasta was cooked just right, in between soft and tough but leaning more towards the latter; the egg was creamy, allowing the pasta to run smoothly through my fork and the meat (which sadly wasn't pork cheek or in Italian "guanciale") was soft and not chewy at all. A slight problem I have with the pasta is that the amount of black pepper felt a bit too much and too rough but other than that it was really good. In conclusion i really recommend this place if you want to have a quick and delicious lunch that is...
Read moreAs I walked in and ordered my food I was informed there's no parmesan cheese. Okay. I ordered a carbonara with tagliatelle pasta when I was informed there's no cheese of any kind. Mind you we are talking about Dublin city centre with Spar 2 hops away. Lazy as it gets. Absolutely unacceptable. As soon as I received my plate it was just disappointing.I haven't seen any eggs in carbonara, the pasta was barely al dente which means undercooked and there was 10 grams of bacon lardons in it. I'm a professional chef that hasn't had a meal in a restaurant in a while. Absolutely obnoxious. When I asked for a glass of pinot grigio that they had advertised on every single table I was informed they're out of that as well so I accepted a different wine. Nobody ever checked on me or asked about the quality of the food. The only reason I ate at all is that I was starving and there was noone to complain to even if I wanted to. Do not spend your money here. These people do not care about you or food...
