Extremely rude bar staff! Been drinking here regularly for years, it has been a "go to" for people working in the arts, Went for a late drink last night, literally had one drink all night, so we weren't drunk, the minute they flashed the lights for last orders, I approached the bar, and immediately the female bar tender started cleaning, politely tried to order a drink, she wouldn't serve me, then served someone beside me, I tried to order again, she said "I'm cleaning" I said ok, tried to order from the other 2 male members of staff, who ignored me, I walked away from the bar and could see the same female member of staff serving someone who had arrived at the bar after me, I approached the bar again and tried to order a drink from her and she once again said "I'm cleaning" I said nothing and waited (usually bar staff will make the sale at last orders before closing the bar and do the cleaning when the bar has closed) she then walked over and told her colleagues not to serve me, while they continued to serve those around me, she had just taken a dislike to either me or my girlfriend or both, absolutely no reason or justification for this sort of disgraceful behaviour! Obviously we left. Never experienced anything like it. The staff here over the years were sound, this current crop need a lot of hospitality training or at the very least learn some...

I have been to this pub 3 times and the first 2 times were superb! However, on my third visit, I found all the staff except one to be quite rude. I tried to go in through one entrance but I was told rudely to go to the other entrance. When I went to the right entrance, I was asked if I have any drink on me (I would think if I was going to a pub to get drink then I probably wouldn't but who knows in this world). Obviously I didn't. Then, when I went to the bar, the fella beside me asked for a pint of water, the bartender then pointed at me and asked 'what do you want?' I said 'can I have a vodka and coke' to which he corrected me to 'can I have a vodka and coke PLEASE.' I swear I have manners it's just that the place was packed with music too so I had to shout and ask as quickly as possible. He also didn't correct the fella beside me. Anyway, I didn't like the way he made me feel so I moved to a different part of the pub and got served by a lovely lady. I paid over €7 just for a man to make me feel very small and worthless. Worse things can happen but I won't be back sadly. Shame because it is a...

My son & I stopped by here on the off chance one weekday evening recently. The place was relatively quiet and the friendly guy behind the bar (Rich) suggested that we find ourselves a table and then he would take our drinks and food order. I had to have a Guinness of course while my son went for a pint of Rockshore cider.

For our evening meal, I went for the fish and chips. The fish was huge & delicious and the chips were really tasty. Certainly the best that we had during our stay in Dublin. My son went for the honey glazed ham & cheese sandwich with extra chips. I downed my Guinness so quickly that I needed another pint. Rich suggested that I try a pint of O'Hara's Irish red beer which was also great.

Our bill came to just under 60€ which wasn't bad considering the portions here.

I would say that this place was what I would typically expect from a good quality but modest Irish pub. Nothing overly fancy thank goodness - just good food, drinks and a friendly smile. Thoroughly...

Good food and nice atmosphere. I had the stew with Guinness soda bread and on another visit the chicken stuffing sandwich. My husband had the leek soup and the ham and cheese sandwich (which looked really nice so I tasted some of the ham which was very good). Service was good on first visit, on second visit it was hard to catch the waitresses attention and I eventually had to get up and go over to her to ask for another drink. But overall this is a great pub and we enjoyed it. The Guinness soda bread was my favorite, I wish I had the recipe!

I spent a lot of hours inside this building and a lot of my hard earned paychecks as well. I will declare that this pub might be one of the most structurally intriguing in the city. In addition to the uniqueness and charm of the first floor— a large loop ‘round the central bar counter— the upstairs boasts some of the finest woodworking I have seen, with some fantastic detailing on the seatbacks (pictures attached below). All in all, I can only give a positive review, even though it is seven Euros for a pint of peer.
