It was my sons birthday. He has a love for bbq since I've cooked that every summery evening I can all his life. I wanted to treat him to some what I thought would be real bbq, the sign outside looked great along with the decor and that's where it ended. We ordered the meat tray, it had brisket, ribs, pulled pork, a chicken breast, not 2 pieces just one, sausage, a few veg, coleslaw and fries which were extra. Every meat sample was dry, as in over well done and not even their watered down hot sauce could bring the tenderness back. The side of fries that fitted inside a small mug was over priced, €4 for a hand full!? Eddie Rockets was looking real good at this point. Luke said the juiciest thing of the meal was the ice cream and that was only because it was free. I asked him "what do you rate this place at?" 3. "No it's out of 10 not 5" "Oh, ok sorry, it's still 3, your bbq is way way better than this" he proudly recalled. Bbq is a loving cooking process. It's meant to respect the beef and pork that every cut has to flow with flavour, juices and be so tender you forget diets and manners. The glaze should shimmer, not look like warmed up glue. @pittbrosbbq real pit cooks love bbq and you can taste how much they do, some of the staff here did their best but nobody was proud to be there, least of all the floor hostess. When walking out of a bbq joint you should be thinking of the next time you'll be back, thinking of what was your fav cut. It would satisfy the regular "let's try this place" crowd, but for someone who loves low and slow; it's a no. I mean when your 13 year old says the best part about his first experience in a bbq joint was the free ice cream, that's like saying that the best thing about going to Disneyland was the walk on my way out. I would be horrified to bring any bbq lover here to this place which was no more than reheated over cooked meat with a cool sign outside. I would not fear going up against this place in competing like i would against true grilla's. But we still enjoyed each others company which was why we walked out at the end instead of...
Read moreWent to this place as a friend recommended it. It’s probably been the best BBQ I’ve had in Europe so far.
We ordered the 3 meat combo plate. Brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs. (Jerk seasoning)
The he ribs were cooked perfect where you pull the rib and it separates from the meat. The caramelized BBQ sauce was good with a bit of burnt sides. The BBQ sauce was a bit sweet for me and could use a bit of heat. (Spicy).
The pulled pork was wet almost as if it was cooked in a crock pot, but could just be that it was sitting in some juices till served. Overall it was tender but needed a bit more BBQ sauce as this meat typically absorbs any sauce you add to it. I think it could use more smoked flavor and BBQ flavor vs being wet.
The brisket, the item I was what I really looked forward to, I paid for a bun so I could make a sandwich with it. Overall it was good, I just wish it was cut across the grain so that it would be easier to eat. It also required more BBQ sauce.
The serving size was very large, definitely enough for my wife and I. The servings were un-prepared more of pulling it and serving it vs cutting and preparing.
We also ordered a kids burger and fries, adding lettuce tomatoes and cheese. (My daughter eats everything) The burger looked great. The only thing it was missing was some sauce (mayo would have been great). Daughter ate most of it, I finished it adding some more BBQ sauce otherwise it was too dry.
The side Slaw was good. I used it Chicago style when I made a sandwich. (Putting into the sandwich) and the small salad we didn’t finish. It looked great but was too full and I needed more sauce.
I think the food overall was good. With maybe a few sauce options and cutting the brisket and figuring out why the pulled pork was so wet it...
Read moreAs a pregnant individual, I recently encountered a raw meat burger that raised significant concerns regarding food safety and health regulations. It is crucial to highlight some important points regarding the consumption of undercooked meat, especially for those expecting.
Health and Safety Concerns: Firstly, it is widely known that raw or undercooked meat can harbor harmful bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, which pose serious health risks. For pregnant women, these risks increase considerably, as they can lead to complications such as foodborne illnesses, which can adversely affect both the mother and the unborn child.
Legal Standards: According to food safety regulations, establishments are required to serve meat that is cooked to safe temperatures to ensure the elimination of harmful pathogens. In many jurisdictions, it is mandated that ground meats, including burgers, be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). The presence of a raw meat burger violates these standards and raises questions about the restaurant’s commitment to foot.
Conclusion: In summary, while the idea of a raw meat burger may attract some adventurous eaters, it is imperative to prioritize safety, particularly for pregnant individuals. I strongly advise against consuming raw meat burgers and recommend that restaurants adhere strictly to cooking guidelines to ensure the well-being of all patrons, especially those in sensitive situations like pregnancy. Until there are clear assurances of safe food handling practices, I would encourage pregnant consumers to opt for fully cooked...
