Terrible experience, bad service and they even tried to scam us!
We arrived at the restaurant five minutes early for our reservation, only to end up waiting nearly 20 minutes to be seated. During that time, multiple groups, some larger, some smaller, and all arriving after us, were seated ahead of us. When we were finally taken to our table, it was tucked away in a distant corner, far from the entrance, and wasn’t even fully set. There were no serviettes, which every other table had, and the overall presentation felt like an afterthought.
The issues didn’t stop there. We waited 30 minutes before anyone took our order, with nothing on the table but plain bread - no butter, no oil, nothing to accompany it. No one poured our water, while tables around us received noticeably more attentive service. We had to ask for serviettes five times, and after being repeatedly ignored, I ended up grabbing them myself from an empty nearby table.
Service was almost nonexistent. Staff only approached our table to take the order and clear the dishes, not once to check on us, clear empty glasses, or ask if we wanted more drinks. I had to flag someone down four times just to order another drink, and then remind them three more times before it finally arrived—after our mains were served.
As for the food, it was decent, but unremarkable, and the portion sizes were tiny, especially by Italian standards. The biggest insult came at the end: the bill included three bottles of water (we had two) and six espresso martinis (we received two). It felt like they were charging for the drinks they forgot to bring. That added up to over €80 of incorrect charges so be sure to double-check your receipt.
To make matters worse, a 15% service charge was automatically included, which is laughable considering the lack of basic hospitality. Throughout the evening, not once did a server check in voluntarily. It felt like unless you’re a celebrity (which the owner clearly cares more about, judging by the framed photos), you’re just another inconvenience.
This place is all hype and zero hospitality. If you’re not famous, don’t expect to be treated like a guest expect to be ignored. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values decent service and honesty as attempting to overcharge at such an establishment is...
Read moreOur concierge at Punta Tragara recommended Aurora. I never read reviews but my son asked me where we were going. I told him and he pointed out that there were some negative reviews. I read them and they are just wrong and misguided. I felt I needed to set the record straight. While everyone is entitled to their opinion , there are some things being said that are just untrue. The food is excellent. We found the service to be very good as well. Katerina was not only very welcoming but terrific all around. The other staff were efficient, friendly and made us feel great. The atmosphere was great. A very good and positive vibe. I think the most important thing is that when you consider price , it isn't just about the food item, it is about the whole package. The atmosphere, location, service, quality of food, and everything else. The prices were more than reasonable. My wife and I left happy and I'm fact want to go again before we leave. You should know where you are going and what the prices are before you go. It is not fair to go and then complain about the price in my opinion. You simply can choose not to go there. With respect to the 15% service charge that some people complain about , I will say that it is clearly stated on the menu. Nobody is hiding anything. I am very happy they include it. In Italy you cannot leave a tip on a credit card and we just do not carry cash anymore. This is great for the customer and the wait staff as it solves that cash problem. They work hard and I understand service people also depend on tips. I for one was happy that it was included and wish more places here would do the same. This shows the restaurant also cares about its service and it's people. I applaud it. When we received our bill, it was completely itemized properly and correct. I would not believe any reviews that say this isn't the case. It is all proper. I recommend Aurora highly and would say that if you are someone adverse to spending money and simply are looking for the cheapest place then do not come here. They don't need you as a customer either. Aurora was fantastic and I wanted to answer the reviews with my own after my experience. Excellent all...
Read moreDining at Aurora was one of the highlights of our time in Capri. The restaurant has a timeless charm — sophisticated yet relaxed — with a lively atmosphere that perfectly reflects the spirit of the island. It’s easy to see why it’s a favorite among both locals and visitors.
The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was prepared with care and precision, featuring fresh, top-quality ingredients. From the delicate handmade pasta to the perfectly grilled seafood, everything was bursting with flavor. The famous pizza all’acqua lived up to the hype — crisp, light, and unlike anything else we’ve tried. The dessert selection was just as impressive, offering the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. The wine list was also extensive, with excellent regional and Italian labels that complemented the menu beautifully.
A special mention must go to Sara, who welcomed us so warmly from the moment we arrived. She handled the seating with grace and professionalism, making us feel immediately comfortable and well looked after. Her friendly demeanor and attention to detail set the tone for the rest of the evening. Even though she wasn’t involved in the food service, her role in starting our experience on such a positive note truly stood out and deserves recognition.
Aurora is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience. With world-class food, elegant surroundings, and welcoming staff like Sara, it captures the essence of Capri in every way. Highly recommended, and we look forward to returning on...
