5-Star Experience at Caffè Italiano – Best Steak of Our Trip
We had an early dinner at Caffè Italiano and took advantage of a great deal through The Fork app — 50% off food (not drinks) if you book for 7 PM or earlier. It was easy to make a reservation online, and we were especially impressed by how allergy-aware and accommodating the restaurant was.
Our family has allergies to eggs and nuts, and they handled it seamlessly. The menu includes a comprehensive allergen guide in multiple languages — a clear sign that they’re prepared for tourists and international guests.
🥩 The Food Our kids (ages 13, 16, and 18) each ordered the Tagliata di manzo all’olio e rosmarino con patate Sirloin steak with rosemary and potatoes — cooked medium and rare. While the steaks were slightly more rare than expected, the kids devoured them. Clean plates all around.
My wife and I shared: La nostra Super Bistecca DRY AGED con insalata e patate arrosto (per 2 persone) Dry-aged steak with salad and roasted potatoes — a premium, fatty cut cooked over charcoal embers. Served sizzling on cast iron, which kept it hot and even let the kids sear their own slices. The meat was rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Plenty of sides — we’re both big eaters and left totally full.
We also had the bruschetta, which was excellent — the tomatoes were sweeter and riper than any we’ve had in Italy so far. Complimentary bread was served with olive oil, and balsamic vinegar was available on request at no extra charge.
🍷 The Wine We ordered a bottle of: L’Invidio (Bolgheri DOC Rosso, 2023) from Podere Sette — a 50% Merlot blend that paired beautifully with the steak: smooth, rich, and balanced.
👩🍳 Service Our host Bess and server Marie were both warm and attentive. While a bit shy with English, they checked on us frequently and made sure everything was just right. Their kindness and hospitality added to the experience.
All in all, a five-star meal. Hands down the best steak dinner of our entire trip — and possibly our favorite dinner overall in Italy....
Read moreThe best bread and lasagne in Florence!
The restaurant was not busy during the lunch hours and it was easy to get a seat. A lovely and smiling waitress quickly served the table and brought the tastiest bread as a compliment.
In most restaurants in Tuscany bread served in restaurants is unsalted and unpleasant to eat on its own, because traditionally people used to eat it with other salty foods like salami or aged cheese that had more than enough salt. It was extremely pleasant to enjoy fresh and finally salted bread :)
I chose lasagne, it was brought to table quickly and it was perfect: flavourful traditional ragu, the freshest and most delicate pasta, rolled into thin layers, and the tastiest Béchamel I have ever tried! The dish was executed at the highest level, you could feel the care and love put into the dish❤️
The prices are not too high and are reasonable, the service fee is included in check, as everywhere else in Florence.
I recommend visiting the place, they care about their guests and seem genuine and proud serving...
Read moreThis place is our absolute favorite in Florence. The owner and his staff are the most generous people we have met in this business. All the staff speak multiple languages, making the experience for many visitors easy and enjoyable. The food is so good, you'll wonder if you ever even knew what it was to enjoy food the way you enjoy the food here. We visited here many times, and every time we went anywhere else, we'd reminisce about coming here. Everything else in town seems forgettable once you taste the delicious food here. The potatoes, simple as they usually are in any dish, blow your mind here. The pizza sets a standard higher than you thought possible. The pasta makes you feel like everything in the world will be alright. This isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. Please for the love of God, don't miss...
