Having been on the road for over 2 weeks in London, Paris, Rome & Venice we've rolled thru a variety of food since arriving from the United States. Looking for a bit of good, solid, "grab it with both hands" comfort, I Google'd "Best cheeseburger near me" and OFFICINA STREETFOOD topped the list.

Just a short walk away, my wife and I headed down and were warmly greeted by Walter, the owner/proprietor of this culinary gem. With 4 sizes of burgers to choose from in a variety of styles, I went right for the 330gram "Hamburger I 'Faro" with bacon, cheddar, salad and tomato and it was everything one could hope for in a burger...and more.

With many other items on the menu from pastas to pizzas to pulled pork, I wish we were staying in Florence a bit longer so we could try some other items and chat with Walter a bit more; such a friendly and engaging person. Many places have great food but to have such a friendly, interesting and welcoming staff makes great food even better. If you have a chance, stop by, sample their menu and enjoy their company. I stumbled upon this place after visiting Santa Croce Basilica. I had seen many restaurants in Florence advertising burgers that looked good, so I had decided to find out just how good. I discovered, at Officina at least, they are amazing!

For a long time I've been grumbling that was getting more and more difficult to find a decent burger in the US as burger joints tend towards thinner frozen patties. The burger I had at Officina was thick, hand pressed, cooked to order, and tasted incredible!

And the service was quality as well. The gentleman who took my order was attentive, courteous, and made some good suggestions for my burger and beer. He seemed genuinely concerned with making sure I had a good lunch. A must find if you ever...
