Without a doubt, the best sandwich in Florence. To be honest, it’s the best food I’ve had in all of Italy thus far. Absolutely amazing. I ordered the La Dei Neri, their main porchetta sandwich, and it is out of this world. Don’t listen to the hype about the other sandwich shops in town. I tried Antico and it doesn’t even compare to what I had at Schiacciateria De’ Neri. To start with, the bread is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. It’s the perfectly crisp while also being light and airy. The porchetta meat was juicy and full of flavor. And then the sweet peppers and the truffle mayo add the perfect touch. On top of all of that, the sandwich is so big it could almost feed my entire family. Easily enough to feed me and my wife. And it’s only €7.50. Such a great value. I’d pay double that price for this sandwich. We also got the La Toscana for our kids and it was also amazing. The salame that they use in that sandwich makes it special. It’s so tasty! And if you need any more reasons to go there, the staff are extremely kind, patient, and friendly. It’s a family-run restaurant, usually you will see the husband, wife, and daughter all behind the counter. A trip to Florence would be incomplete without going here. I’m not exaggerating, you will be...

Inside, a smiling Italian man with a gold chain and hairy chest slices meat with priest-like devotion, as “Quando, Quando, Quando” plays like a hymn overhead.
I got the Giotto (to call it a sandwich is to call the David just a statue). Every element was divine: the fried eggplant, the crisped meat, the slight toast of the bread that doesn’t shred the roof of your mouth. Red pesto dripped, uncontained, painting my face. I didn’t reach for a napkin. To wipe it away would feel like a sin.
This lunch was liturgy. Cheese and meat ascended. Bread and eggplant made sacrament.
Passersby glimpsed my rapture and demanded to know the source of this manna. And I understood. I understood why humans quarry marble for cathedrals. I understood why devotion exists in the world. We do it to feel, for a fleeting moment, what this food made me feel. Salvation.
In conclusion, this place is to sandwiches what the Sistine Chapel is to ceilings: a revelation that leaves you awed, slightly disheveled, and utterly grateful...

We stood in line for approximately 25 minutes. There’s a large mini board and two different places as well as paper minions on a bench just outside the shop. we had seen the owner of this shop on Instagram and knew we had to visit. He has so much fun when he makes the sandwiches!
We have been back twice since in our first week and I’m certain will return next week! When you find something you really like, sometimes you stick with it.
We find that we really love the salami sandwiches, and the pecorino cheese, and also the stringy cheese spread. The dried tomato pesto is perfectly tangy and a bit of “salad” the sandwich is...
