A Heartwarming Tuscan Experience at Trattoria Il Bargello 🇮🇹❤️

Dining at Trattoria Il Bargello was one of the most memorable highlights of our time in Florence. This family-style gem offers not just incredible food, but a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home.

The Florentina steak here is truly exceptional—easily the best in town. What made it even more special was the thoughtful presentation: the staff brought the raw steak to our table, explained its cut and origin with care, and let us decide before placing the order. This respectful and engaging approach reflects their deep pride in what they serve.

And then came the highlight of the night: the boss himself, joined by another staff member, appeared at our table wearing sunglasses and channeling full-on Salt Bae energy—presenting a gigantic raw T-bone steak (20kg+) for photos. It was theatrical, hilarious, and deeply endearing. That moment wasn’t just for show—it was a celebration of Tuscan cuisine, a salute to guests who appreciate it, and a simple yet powerful expression of Italian pride.

Once served, the steak was perfectly seasoned, infused with vibrant herbs and kissed by the smoky flavor of the charcoal grill. The surface had a satisfying crispness, while the inside remained tender and juicy—absolutely mouthwatering. It was the kind of dish that makes you want to return again and again.

Their pastas were equally impressive—authentic, rich, and bursting with the flavors of Tuscany. Every dish felt like a tribute to tradition, made with love and skill.

Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely heartfelt. The ambiance was relaxed yet vibrant, perfect for enjoying a slow, delicious meal with good company.

If you’re looking for a place that combines heartfelt hospitality, top-tier Tuscan cuisine, and a true family touch, Trattoria Il Bargello is not to be missed. Grazie mille to the wonderful team—we’ll cherish this experience and can’t...

My wife and I visited this location in 2023 and I can say nothing but fantastic things about it. The food was simply delectable. I had a steak florentine, cooked to perfection that was one of the best steaks I have had in my life. My wife had a seafood pasta dish that she basically ate herself half to death with because it was so good.

The owners personally recommended wine pairings, appetizers that complimented the dish, gave us travel advice and other less known locations to visit. He also did a spoof on salt bae, which was pretty entertaining. They ran the location like a small family affair, and it showed. We almost felt like a part of the enterprise by the end of the evening, drinking wine and socializing with other customers. Also, for those diners that stayed longer and were enjoying themselves, the owner and his wife also came out and shared some wine with us and simply had a great time.

The atmosphere complimented everything. It was small, but cozy and absolutely heart warming. We really did not want to leave by the end of the night, but all good things must end. Whenever we get back to Florence, this will be on the must visit...

One of the best Trattoria’s in all of Florence. Could actually be THE BEST! Authentic Florentine food - fresh and homemade. This was our second trip to Florence and we were disappointed with many of restaurants this trip until we found Trattoria Il Bargello. From the moment we sat down we were treated so kindly and felt very welcome. My husband and I started with the homemade burrata the steak Florentine which cost approximately €54 for 950+ grams. It was perfectly prepared and so tender. We ordered the roasted potatoes as a side that were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We also had the wild boar Ragu with homemade pasta which was the best part of our meal. We had a bottle of the house red wine and limoncello- both of which we loved. The service was extremely professional. They provided candle light and treated us with kindness and optimal attentive service. You could tell it was a family owned business with a father and two sons. The Trattoria was also very clean. Bring cash if you can! This is an amazing restaurant and we couldn’t be happier with our...

Our AirBnB host recommended this place on our first night in Florence and we loved it so much we went back for our last night. It’s a small trattoria located down a quiet ally all by itself. The wait staff is great, and with its red checkered table cloths and cosy atmosphere it’s felt like that Italian restaurant in Lady and the Tramp. We got the Fried bread coccoli with ham and stracchino soft cheese which is traditional to this area. The Angus carpaccio, and probably my favorite the Burrata cheese with shaved truffle. The main course was of course the Florentine T-bone steak which was cooked perfectly we went with 1.2kg for 3 people. Then desert was Sicilian cannoli, a very good Tiramisù but the star of the desert course was the Panna cotta. We watch a lot of Top Chef and I now know (just like Tom Colicchio) what a good Panna cotta should look and taste like, it was delicious. It was the most expensive place we ate in Florence but it was worth it (twice!). Or favorite place to eat in Firenze.
