We had an unforgettable experience at Paper Moon Giardino, a charming Italian restaurant tucked away in the heart of Milan. Upon arrival, we were immediately taken by the stylish crowd and the fashionable, elegant ambiance. The staff were exceptional in their hospitality, guiding us to arguably the best table in the house - a perfect spot in their stunning garden.
The menu was diverse, offering a variety of tempting options. We opted for the panzanella salad, Pane Moon salad, veal ossobuco in tomato sauce, pasta mare, and gnocchi with cream and truffles, accompanied by a cool Pinot Grigio. While the salads were delightfully refreshing and the bread was pleasing, some of the dishes didn't quite meet our expectations.
The veal ossobuco, while cooked to the right tenderness, was served with a sauce that was underwhelming and lacked balance. Similarly, the gnocchi was well-made, but the cream sauce was overly rich and lacking in flavour. The truffles, while impressive in appearance, fell short on the taste front. The pasta, unfortunately, went untouched.
Hoping for a sweet redemption, we concluded our meal with a chocolate cake and coffee. However, the dessert, much like some of the previous dishes, failed to impress us.
It's important to note that the total for this dining experience came to 215 euros, which included our chosen dishes, wine, and dessert. While the cost is on the higher end, it's somewhat to be expected given the upscale location and high level of service.
Despite these culinary missteps, it's hard to ignore the allure of Paper Moon Giardino. The remarkable location, professional staff, and overall classic vibe make it a place worth visiting. However, a restaurant of such high repute should ensure that its food meets the high standards set by the ambiance and service.
Overall, our experience was a mix of hits and misses. We're hopeful that Paper Moon Giardino will take note of this and elevate their food game to match their impeccable service and...
Read moreVery classy and elegant location, beautiful interior design, modern and fancy Service was great, from the lady at the front desk to the waiters staff, everyone was on point and helped us having a great night. Food was up and down, they started very strong with some impressive "Antipasti" (the tapenade was too strong and it was covering the pounded red shrimps, a shame since the shrimp them selves were ridiculous good, Salmon tartare was very good and balanced, scallops were AMAZING, sea urchin sauce was astonishing, probably the best plate of the whole dinner). Primi were not as great, risotto was well cooked and tasty, probably too tasty and it was completely covering the tuna tartare, not a balanced plate for sure and probably a waste of good tuna cut, spaghetto with clams was good, well done, slightly salty but overall good. Second courses were ok, calamari plate was super good, good texture, well done plate, each flavor was highlighted, good job! Scampi were way too cook, to the point that they started to be dry, very upset with the cooking technique here that was not able to elevate the very good ingredients. Cotoletta was not at the same level of all the other plates and in general not in line with the restaurant style, raw cherry tomatoes and arugula were just tossed on the plate, chef can do a better job coming up with something more elaborate, this basic side is not was clients are expecting when enter in a high scale fancy fine dining restaurant. We concluded with another highlight of the dinner, a chocolate sphere with dry fruit and grapefruit, very very good, another impressive plate. Is definitely a place that I would recommend and that I would visit again, if they can readjust couple of things in the kitchen this place has the potential to become a referring point for...
Read moreOur server was very pleasant and friendly. He was attentive to any questions we had about the menu or suggestions about wines. I must say though I was very disappointed in my food. I started with the parmigiano which was dry; lacking any sauce and almost tasted burnt. My friends had the octopus, and it was very delicious. The texture and sauce were perfect. Unfortunately, my next dish wasn’t as good as the octopus. I had the Raviolo and it was terrible, so much so that I couldn’t even attempt to finish it. So that was a wasted 23 euro, and I was afraid to say I didn’t like the dish because I didn’t know how they’d react. Instead I just kept sipping on the wine to get rid of the bad taste. My friends had the linguine granchio which I didn’t care for either, and the tagliatelle alla bolognes, which was actually very very good. I wish I had just ordered that instead. For dessert we had the panna cotta and crème brûlée which to my surprise were actually very good, but the tiramisu, not so much. It wasn’t that it was terrible, it was just different. Mani In Pasta had a far better tiramisu. Overall, I don’t think this restaurant was worth the over 300 euro we spent there. I would have much rather gone to some hole in the wall where I could have gotten guaranteed good pasta and dessert without the snobby upscale environment where people just stare at you because they know you’re a tourist. And if you are wanting to take your unfinished food with you, make sure to specify that quickly. When they took my friends dishes, they ended up throwing them away instead of placing them in a takeaway container. So we still paid for food we didn’t eat. Very...
