Last Sunday my husband and I enjoyed another deliciously, amazing buffet breakfast at the 10_11 restaurant in the Portrait hotel. We recently discovered this elegant and serene venue with its beautifully orchestrated quality of offerings for a heavenly and satisfying breakfast. From the moment we arrived, Diana the Breakfast Supervisor greeted us with her pleasant smile and cheery disposition which made us feel right at home. On our first visit, while accompanying us to our table she eagerly and enthusiastically explained the set up of their buffet breakfast and ensured we were comfortable with our table chosen. It was evident and refreshing to instantly see the professionalism of Diana and her Team. They are courteous and prompt and diligent in providing the best service and experience to the client, which has been seen each time we’ve returned. Sara our waitress, upon meeting her on our first visit, once again thoroughly explained our choices of the morning and quickly engaged by bringing us fresh juices to our table. The buffet is a feast for the eyes with its elegantly presented and beautifully curated products in a tranquil and peaceful setting. The buffet selection is bountiful, beginning from the in-house made, exquisitely delicate viennoisseries, to the breads, focaccia, to the refined morning cakes. It continues with a delectable, well thought selection of cheeses and charcuterie offerings, to vegan options, to the savoury options made with their deliciously buttery croissant, savoury tarts and last but not least, their in-house production of fresh honey! The quality of products chosen and offered is evident. The offerings are beautifully arranged and displayed, showcasing the utmost freshness and high standard in offering only the best products to be savoured. The buffet is constantly being replenished in a discreet manner with one person assigned to the task. A surprising and welcoming touch brought to each table, is a warm bakery creation just ‘out of the oven’ created by the Chef and his Team. These are definitely the details that make the difference for my husband and I to return along with the well executed and professional service by Diana and the wait staff. They are quick, efficient and attentive, ensuring each time, we are looked after and satisfied. They are ready to cater to every whim with their eagerness and pleasant mannerism to go above and beyond to ensure we are experiencing a memorable and enjoyable moment. A BIG thank you once again to the effervescent Diana and her Team for making us feel comfortable on each visit and always making our breakfast experience memorable and a pure delight. We look forward to our next visit and excited to be surprised by the Pastry Chef and his talented...
Read moreThis is an impressive place where we had a nothing less than perfect dinner a few days ago. The quadrilatero square is a stunning piece of architectural beauty in the heart of Milan's centre, and the fascination that entering from the ancient portal provides is an experience in itself. The restaurant is elegant without feeling intimidating, the staff welcoming and friendly, the bar well stocked and staffed by expert bartenders that prepared us a couple of honestly excellent cocktails while we were waiting for our table to be ready. The quality of the food is insanely high, including that of the famous "pasta in bianco" that we ordered without realising that we had read about the controversy it generated when it was introduced on the menu last summer. I had a sea bream tartare with burrata, puntarelle and basil reduction that has been one of the culinary highlights of the past couple of years. My risotto al salto with gremolata and ragù di ossobuco was also excellent, a perfect connection to the Milanese cuisine, as the mondeghili, really tasty. The portions are also decent, which is not always the case for restaurants of this kind. I didn't drink a lot, but the glass of Valpolicella riserva that I was served was of extremely high quality. I was expecting a painful bill, but we spent less than 85€ per person (not including the cocktails, that were expensive but really top quality), which is really not much for the quality of...
Read moreCame here to have a bite to eat while walking around Milan this past weekend. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside, a large library area followed by some intimate seating. Outside seating is in a nice courtyard. However, this is where things take a turn.
We were told we’d need to wait 5-10 mins for table, which was no problem for us. After 30 minutes however, we still hadn’t been seated despite the interior restaurant having countless open tables. Finally the hostess sat as at a table that had been free the entire time we had been sitting there.
The value for the food you get here is not proportionate. You can have an entire, delicious meal elsewhere in Milan for the same price as two appetizers here. The meatballs were good but not great, the zucchini pasta dish was fairly bland. The coffee was excellent though. Our waiter was very kind but the rest of the staff not so much, including the woman that came to give us our check.
When we went to pay, there was an additional cover charge added on the bill at 5$ per person. No one told us there was a cover charge to eat here / to get in. I inquired about this but she just kept stating cover charge. The whole time the vibe just felt off. Just all around not a good experience sadly, because I was very excited to come here based on the other...
