(Monday, 17th Feb 2025) We have travelled the Bernina Express from Switzerland into Milan, Italy and the Beefbar was specially chosen as part of our 30th wedding anniversary. The service started off well with the young waitress and the manager, however, we were quite disappointed with the food.
The first problem started with the main course, the steaks were nicely cooked, however, I bit into something very hard from the seasonal vegetables, which I thought was sand or small stones, further inspection shows it was some hard shell from the nuts (was later told it was chestnuts). I placed these hard "bits" to the side of the plate, and informed the waiter, who was very apologetic, I guessed he must have raised it with the kitchen, as he explained it must have been the chestnuts shell (I thought they were walnuts shell, as they were very hard like stones). I mentioned that we didn't want to make a fuss about it, as I have already finished most of my main course.
The second problem was when we ordered the fruit platter to finish off for the evening, it took almost 15 minutes before it was served, we thought they were growing the fruit. When the fruit platter was being served, the waiter accidentally dropped something, which my wife later said it was the "Happy Anniversary" card that was supposed to be on the plate as a surprise. Again, we didn't make a fuss as it was getting late and we had a plane to catch the following morning. However, the worst part was my wife showed me some of the fruit seems rotten, or mould (I didn't believe it at first as the restaurant was dimly lit, but I have shone light from my mobile phone and it seems on the red currants and raspberries, as pictured). As mentioned, we were already quite disappointed from the experience and needed to leave.
For such a prestigious establishment, I would have thought the standard and quality of the food to be much higher. We have paid €190 for our meal, it's certainly a memory to have, but for the...
Read moreWe had a reservation at Beefbar Milan for the evening of April 1st at 8 p.m., arranged by my wife. Unfortunately, due to a health issue with our son, we had to rush to a clinic that evening and completely forgot to cancel the reservation. It was a genuine family situation, unexpected, unplanned, and stressful.
The next morning, while having coffee, we were surprised to find a €100 charge from Beefbar on our credit card. No one from the restaurant tried to communicate to check what had happened or follow-up next day. Just a silent, automatic charge. That alone speaks volumes about the priorities of the establishment.
After this, I went through the reviews left by other customers — and a clear pattern emerged. Words like “rude,” “discriminative,” “arrogant,” “self-centered” are mentioned again and again, describing not the food, not the ambiance, but the management. The team running this restaurant seems disconnected from the essence of hospitality and instead focused solely on profit and control. There is a robotic tone to their replies online, most likely automated or copied; completely missing the human touch you’d expect from a high-end place.
Let me be clear: the food may be good. But the experience, driven by the way management handles situations, is deeply disappointing. A premium restaurant is not just about serving steak; it’s about how guests are welcomed, treated, and respected, especially in unforeseen circumstances.
Charging €100 without a follow-up, or even basic empathy, tells me Beefbar Milan is not guest-centered. It is pocket-centered. And no matter how good the food is, poor management will always leave a bitter aftertaste.
You can have an average meal somewhere else and walk out happy because you were treated with kindness and care. Beefbar Milan doesn’t offer that. It offers an exclusive front with a hollow core.
People deserve better, and we should all expose such mediocre and tone-deaf management so others don’t fall into the...
Read moreThe food was truly great! We went really easy on our lunch and enjoyed it.
But the poor service disappointed us. I’m not sure about our server’s name, but he spoke to us Russian, since my group was from Ukraine. He was struggling to speak it, so I spoke Italian to him, which he (by his face) didn’t like and proceeded to speak Russian with me, but with an attitude.
When I asked if it’s possible to get a plain juice, he kept repeating “no!” 3 times and said quoted “at this restaurant is not like everywhere” and rolled his eyes. Then he didn’t offer me anything else, was already about to leave, until I ASKED if they have non alcoholic drinks. He basically threw it at me saying “I told you before you have a drink map here on the table“.
This worker had no intention of helping me, offering me other choices and general manners.
Also when my friend ordered an americano together with her meal, he looked confused. We understand that in Italy they don’t have coffee with a meal, but at a restaurant of this level and constant foreigners, it shouldn’t be a problem at this point.
As well as please tell your workers to non take my appetizer plate away from me while I’m in the middle if breaking a piece of bread over it and eating it. Everything was really rushed because as I understand you have many people coming in and out, so I couldn’t relax and enjoy.
The food was great, so big thank you to the kitchen, thank you for being nice at the entrance, finding us a table and taking our coats. But with this service I’m not...
