A Hot Welcome, Bland Fare, and a Masterclass in Waiter Disinterest
If you’re ever in need of a good sweat and have an hour to kill waiting for a few pieces of flavorless bread, this restaurant is the place for you! We were warmly welcomed—quite literally—with the offer of one of the few sun-drenched tables, perfect for those who enjoy basking in the scorching heat while trying to have a meal.
After a generous hour of waiting (because clearly, bruschettas are a culinary masterpiece that require extensive preparation), we were treated to the most tasteless variety of bruschetta we’ve had in all of Rome. A true accomplishment, considering the city’s reputation for great food.
When we dared to inquire whether the rest of our meal would follow the same leisurely pace, our previously blind waiter suddenly remembered we existed and went into apology mode. Quite the transformation—almost like magic!
In conclusion, if you enjoy slow service, bland food, and being seated in direct sunlight in warm weather, I highly recommend this place. For anyone else: steer clear.
Seeing the way someone responds on behalf of this place it doesn’t look like real business to me. Any decent manager would fire the person trying to convince the customers how wrong they are. Now I would recommend even less this place. If you don’t want to waste your time and money with bad service and not asked advices going with it just don’t sit as the...
Read moreOverpriced food for what you get. Service was unbelievably slow, took about 40 minutes for 1 appetizer, then another 40 for 2 mains. No bread was brought. Table was minuscule, we could hardly fit our plates etc on it, and although the room was half empty, when we asked if we could move to a larger table we were told no. Yet the one next to ours, twice the size, had already been vacated but was never cleared (same as many others); on the contrary, they kept piling all the other dirty dishes from other customers onto this table next to us, in a most unsightly and unprofessional manner. The 2 waiters were clearly insufficient for the whole restaurant, outdoors and indoors. I guess the owners are too cheap to hire more staff. Bill was an excruciating 91€ for 1 veg appetizer, 2 meat mains (I chose the least pricey breaded cutlet, which kept me up all night with indigestion), 2 vegetable sides, 2 waters. Absolutely NOT WORTH all the hype. Quaint piazza if you eat outside, but they wouldn't let us. Besides, this restaurant most oddly goes by 2 different names (Taverna degli Amici the second), in the same location, but menus and signage only bear the 1, Angelino. Definitely never...
Read moreWe took the dinner there, on friday night. First thing, they have prices like the good restaurants from centre, but the serving is very bad, the servers are arrogant if you don't speak Italian, the food looked good, but just that cause was cold, without taste, like a poor second cooked try. Second thing, the decorations are trying to imitate old traditionally restaurant design, this is good, but the smell of a cheap bar from suburbia counter your stomach from inside . Third thing, after you take a sit on their "precious" tables (if you are unlucky and find a table near the door, you will eat with the servers in your neck), your first thought is "Sorry, but you are sure the glasses and table cloth are washed recently?..." Fourth one is that all the spent time there you feel in a hurry and unasked sick questions flying in your mind according to servers faces and sounds like "Seriously, how much do you need to eat, maybe you can leave soon 'cause I want to go home "
**P.S.1 Maybe the only place from the entire city who disappointed us by all period spent in Rome. **P.S.2 The FOOD didn't have salt and was cold.
