RECOMMENDED! 10 STARS FOOD AND SERVICE IS PERFECT.
If you're tired of local cuisine and looking for a dining experience that feels like a mini escape in the heart of Rome, Clorofilla Cucina e Distillati is your go-to spot. Tucked away near Campo de' Fiori, this restaurant is designed to immerse you in a lush, green oasis. Imagine stepping into a vibrant jungle with plants everywhere, making you forget you're in the bustling city.
We dig the vibe here it is fresh, new and modern. Everyone on the staffs are so charming and friendly. We didn’t feel any discrimination for being asians, unlike other restaurants that will automatically sit you at the back end of the restaurant just because we are asians. 🤦🏻♀️ They reserve a perfect seat for us and they even let us choose which table is our preferred seat. They even let me explore the restaurant as they noticed that I’m amazed with the interiors. (well being an architect, the first that always catches my attention is the beautiful/ smart design of a space) Anyways, the modern take on the restaurant design matches perfectly matching their innovative take on Italian cuisine. You'll find creative dishes with traditional flavors and exciting twists.
Clorofilla isn't just about good food; it's about the whole experience. The service is impeccable, the ambiance is welcoming and chic, making it our favorite restaurant in Rome.
We ordered the ff: ( we wanted to order more however we were so stuffed!) Oh btw, the chef gave complimentary cute raspberry shaped tomato pesto, bread and special butter.
Starter : Beef 2.0 - Roast beef with tuna sauce, homemade goji berry bbq sauce with puffed bread and caper berries. ** this is not your ordinary roast or bbq beef. First off, this is more half raw than totally over burnt bbq. This dish gave us a shock, we’ll we weren’t expecting this at all but we like their take on a beef bbq. It is very special. 💯% recommended.
1st Course: Risotto Asparagi e Roquefort - Carnaroli rice with creamed asparagus, roquefort and licorice balsamic reduction **perfectly cooked, i like the addition of balsamic reductions, it made risotto not tiring to finish.
Mazzancolle e Melanzane- Fregola creamed with prawn bisque, prawn carpaccio, smoked eggplant cream and lemongrass coconut milk and shichimi togarashi ** this dish is so special, we’ve never tried something like this before and we are glad we did! THIS DISH IS A MUST TRY! 💯% RECOMMENDED!
2nd Course: Polpo E Pappa Al Pomorodo- roasted octopus, pappa al pomorodo, bergamot gel, stracciatella and oregano chlorophyll ** perfectly cooked octopus! the char smell is wonderful. their take on pappa al pomoro with bergamot gel is crazy. You’ll never forget your first bite. It was just a bit sour after finishing half of the plate, but all in all it was still very good dish.

Read morePros: bartender (Kai) was extraordinarily helpful and made incredible cocktails ambiance is cool
Cons: absolutely nothing else in the alley way, can be a bit sketchy at night
My girlfriend and I were walking to another restaurant a couple blocks away when we walked by this place. It caught my eye immediately because it was a bright, upscale looking place in a small side street with nothing else on it. There was a menu posted outside, so we were looking at the dishes there.
After a couple minutes, the bartender Kai noticed us from inside, and said hi. My girlfriend is lactose intolerant, so we were trying to figure out if there was anything she could eat. He was extremely helpful, going over some dishes that would suit her dietary restrictions, and offering to ask the kitchen. After a bit, we decided to take the plunge, as she had brought some lactose pills, so we took a seat.
We didn't feel that we were dressed up enough for this place, as it was quite fancy and we had just been wearing comfortable clothes for walking around Rome in the August sun all day. Very well decorated and lit, it was more empty than it had any right being at that time of night (9:30pm).
We were seated and Kai came over to take our drink orders, asking about our entrees so he could pair a cocktail. I'm horrible with names, but my girlfriend got a basil vodka drink, and I got an old fashioned with white truffle oil. We were absolutely floored by the drinks, possibly some of the best cocktails we had ever had.
The food itself was great, the sun dried tomatoes especially were a hit with my girlfriend. To be honest, the food was a eclipsed by the drinks, that's how good they were.
Leaving the place, there were two men in the alley down the street from the restaurant. There was almost no light there, one was flickering like we were in a horror movie. They parted ways and one was walking towards us. He stopped abruptly right when he got to us and my girlfriend got quite spooked (TBH I did too). He didn't bother us, however, and we were on our way. I'd be careful on this street, even though we were just a couple dozen yards from a heavily trafficked street.
We wandered randomly into this place, not knowing what we were getting into, and came out with one of our most memorable experiences in Rome. This is a place I would...
Read moreHad a nice dinner here while on vacation. We found them on OpenTable and originally booked for 8:30 and were able to change the time online to 9:00. We arrived and the decor is chic and modern. We elected to order two of the six-course tasting menus with four paired wines and cocktails for 90€ per person. We really enjoyed the drinks but the courses were generally too complex with flavors that really shouldn’t be paired. The courses 1 Beef Carpaccio with mustard and Parmesan and guava foam. The mustard was way too strong and overpowered the dish. The beef was barely noted. 2 Pressed cuttlefish with a carbonara ball made to look like a fried egg. Zucchini and truffles added to the top. Carbonara was too salty and the mix of sea flavor of the cuttlefish was not awesome with the strong earthy truffle flavors. 3 Rissoto with buffalo milk, candied limes, and sliced capers. The candied limes overpowered this dish and the sweet buffalo milk adding match. 4 carbonara with truffles. This wasn’t too bad, but similar ingredients to dish 2. Carbonara was too salty. Carbonara and trufffles twice in a six course tasting menu wasn’t awesome. 5 this dish was great. Chicken with algae salad. Loved it. 6 Dessert. Cheesecake on a biscuit. Very good.
The paired wines were each excellent as were the cocktails. Some slight timing issues with delivery of course and paired wine and cocktail all at the same time.
Overall, we enjoyed the meal, this place has great potential for the food if it is simplified a bit. The meal took almost three hours which may be a bit...
