Il Salotto del Colosseo — Restaurant in Rome

We had a very disappointing experience during our visit. From the beginning, the hostess who seated us was rather dismissive, and after we addressed a concern with her, she appeared to make comments about us to her colleagues in Italian.

We ordered two Aperol Spritz at the start but had to repeat the order several times. Other tables who ordered after us were served first, and after waiting almost 30 minutes we decided to cancel the drinks.

When we asked about the lasagna portion, we were told that one serving would be sufficient for two people. However, when it finally arrived, the portion was much smaller than described, partly cold, and served without cutlery, which we had to request separately.

The location itself is nicely designed, but unfortunately this was the only positive aspect. Overall, the service felt inattentive and unwelcoming, and the lasagna was disappointing in both...

We stayed 3 nights in Rome and had our dinner here the 1st and the 3rd night. The first time, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely affordable restaurant close to Colosseum with yummy food and a beautiful ambience. The service was wonderful. Thanks a lot Giovanni. Our kiddo, who usually doesn’t care for crème-based desserts, decided to try “Pistacchioso” and loved it! We realized only the next day that this dessert isn´t easy to come by. We looked through the menus of so many different restaurants for our dinner the second day and were very disappointed. Which meant that we definitely had to come back here again on our third day, and it was worth it! We had our kiddo wishing that we were staying more days so that we could eat...

Poor kitchen and service, this restaurant is next to the cafe and was with an average note before, it seems name as change. I believe it can be improved place is nice next to collosseum but this will need work. Our experience was not good. For now it does not worth it into my opinion : for example buffala is good but Tomato served with it are not ripe. Wine choosen is not available we had to change. Half the meal of the table were ordered incorrectly so we had to share our plate so we can eat together waiting forgotten dishes. Carbonara were good but sincerely not the best I have eaten. We have eaten late around 3pm, may be kitchen was closing, but in any case...
