Throughout my "career" as a foodie I've been to many Michelin starred restaurants across the world, and collected over 40 Michelin stars. The purpose for this statement is not to brag, but to lend credibility in me saying, without reservation, that Reserva is among the best, if not THE best restaurant that I've ever been to.
We had the New Year's eve tasting menu and it was so good that we came back the next day for lunch, which was also our last meal in Italy before flying off. Every course was amazingly well prepared, with unapologetic flavour profiles and portion sizes so huge that I wondered if there's any money to be made. The chef was highly skilled at creating sauces using tropical fruits, and they gave the seafood a new life, and us as diner flavour combinations that we've never experienced before in our lives.
Since the degustation menu was purely seafood based, we came back the next day to try some of their ala carte offerings. We ordered their cuberoll and pork ribs, as well as the tartare and tacos as per Giorgio's recommendations. Similar to our experience the previous night, they were all expertly prepared and beyond delicious.
Before I wrap up I just want to highlight the service we received - Giorgio, the restaurant manager made the effort to introduce every dish to us, despite almost pulling an all-nighter the previous night. The rest of the floor staff were incredibly warm as well, and together they are the best representation of Italian hospitality.
Although Reserva is not a cheap establishment, the experience made it all worthwhile. It will forever be a part of our fond memory when we reminisce about this great city and we'll be sure to come back whenever we...
Read moreI tend to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. Things can go accidentally wrong or get super busy and best intentions still slip into less than stellar experiences. But I have no idea what was going on the night we ate here. The service was hostile with every single employee with the exception of one food runner. The staff would gather in circles talking in barely hushed voices and not once, but 3 times multiple staff walked out the front door to high five and chat with people driving by then smoke cigarettes. At one point we made enough eye contact with the ONLY other table sitting in our section to commiserate. "What is going on" we said between awkward laughs. The way the staff were behaving I thought perhaps there was a huge party happening in the other sections going awry. But at our exit, it was as empty as when we came in.
The food was actually good. But we skipped dessert to get out as fast as we could. Top weirdest restaurant experiences I'm not sure I have properly conveyed through writing this review. I wouldn't return. Perhaps it's a spot for locals - the people in the cars cruising by, but it was not for us nor the...
Read moreLets start off, this was good meat to begin with, but after the cooking it was like eating shoe leather they did not ask how i wanted it cooked, normaly that just means they will make it rare mabey medium, since no one eats a 120 euro stake well done. But never the less the staff decided it would be best to serve me their right shoe on a platter, this was a funny experience watching the incompetent staff run around like chickens clearly most of them still in training, they never asked if the food was ok, and i didnt want to be rude ofcorse so i decided it would be better to not say anything since i saw a person complain about their wine and the server awnsered with attitude. Horrified of the steak we did not order anything else and left laughing. STEAK IS SUPPOSED TO BE EDIBLE NOT SHOE LEATHER 120 EUROS IS NOT A PRICE I WOULD PAY TO EAT CARDBOARD best regards hugo, please improve. This was a 1 star expirince but i belive this was a mistake and i dont want to ruin your rating so you get...
