This restaurant ruined my day and the good impression towards Rome.
It is located next to a beautiful church, so tourists may want to rest and chill a bit there. However, the food we had was not delicious and costly.
We sat down had a glass of water and waited for takeout food. They charged us €6 service fee without telling us if we wanted to sit down at the table, there was a service fee. If the service is good, I won't say anything. However, we didn't get any reasonable services. Especially when I asked to get the bill and asked the server what they "wrote down on the paper" because they only wrote down the amount of money without the item's name. The server explained it to me in English and mixed it with another language so I could not understand, but he just left, leaving me alone there and feeling so confused.
On the other hand, I told the server that I wanted Salad, and he pointed me to a section on the menu, I chose seasonal vegetables, which cost me €7. I had no idea that people in Rome count a dish that sautes beans, onions, and tomatoes as €7 dish. The most important is….I ask for 'Salad'.
If you plan to speak English to order food or you are going with your loved one, I don't recommend you to this restaurant. The impression...
Read moreThis is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in Rome - so much so that I am almost reticent to review it instead of keeping it a secret! It is in Piazza San Ignazio, across from San Ignazio (the church of Saint Ignatius), but somehow, it feels off the beaten path and is not touristy. Each time I am there, I am the only one speaking English (to my husband - it's certainly not on the menu or in the air!). This makes for an authentic, relaxing, delicious Roman meal each time without breaking the bank at a "boutique" restaurant. Whether it is Roman classics like cacio e pepe or amatriciana, or a bottle of the house wine with some mozzarella and vegetables, everything is beautifully prepared and beyond delicious. You can sit in a gorgeous piazza and watch the world go by, enjoy the chatter of locals at lunch or dinner, and feel truly immersed in a more casual, truly Italian setting. The staff is also very hospitable and clearly takes pride in the community they've built around...
Read moreWe found this place exhausted and hungry. It was 30 mins. until the end of lunch time. We were the only tourists in this place and we were a bit worried. Kind but fast waiter came, gave us the menu, we ordered the food. It was delicious so we have decided to order one more plate (15 mins. to end of the lunch time). They were kind enough to serve us one more plate and even joke about it. We had one big and small beer plus one water, tiramisu (excellent) and 3 dishes mentioned above. As many bad review's complain, we've got our reciept on a piece of square paper with 5 numbers in total of 60 euros. I don't know maybe the price was a bit high considering that tiramisu and drinks cost 30 euros, but at that time, with that atmosphere, kind and funny waiters who at least tried to comunicate in english, we didn't feel mistreated or treated as tourists. In the end we kindly paid the 60 € bill with the experience we lived and food...
