I was in Venice on our honeymoon, my WIFE and I happened to have our hotel two doors down from Atled Meat Lab. In Kansas City we have a law that you must try any barbecue that catches your eye. The Meat Lab not only had eye popping presentation but they backed up their show with a powerhouse lineup of smoked meat. I’ll tell you, I was nervous about trying barbecue in Italy with this being the first place I had seen in the country. Caustically optimistic, I tried their beef ribs, sausage and pulled pork. The ribs were delicious and well prepared. They did an excellent job caramelizing the fat and leaving the meat tender and tasty, melted in your mouth just like it should. My wife was pleasantly surprised by the sausage. It was well seasoned but didn’t overpower the eater. Balanced and with a good bite it out punched it’s weight class. For me the shock of the night was the pulled pork. It was no kidding phenomenal and could be proudly served in any KC restaurant or catered by even the most scrutinizing barbecue palate’s of the city. Run by great people, with kind hearts, a love of barbecue and the skills of a pit master on the rise, Atled Meat Lab is taking Italy by storm and you’d do well to get on...
Read moreI’m not sure what happened. The chef recommended the pulled pork. Previous reviews were great. I decided to go with it. €10. I think I must have received a bad batch. The meat was completely flavorless except the taste of carbon, and the texture was not right. It was reheated on the grill from a plastic-wrapped, cold tray. It was honestly so bad that I couldn’t finish it, I had to stop after a few bites. The coleslaw and sauce had flavor, but I struggle to give even 2 stars because the meat was so bad. I’m not sure what to say. Perhaps, don’t go at 10pm on a Saturday night? The other reviews look stunning so I think I’m an outlier, it’s possible the meat was spoiled (it had a slight “sour” or “tangy” smell), but in that case, I’m not sure why the chef would recommend something that was not fresh. I’m sorry to give one star but I can’t remember the last time I couldn’t finish a meal when...
Read moreOpened by a graduate from a Texas university with a love of BBQ, customers can get an authentic taste of home at a great value here. Mainly for carryout, the smoked sausage sandwich was delicious. The Philly Cheesesteak is actually a deluxe sandwich version vs the original with two large slices of brisket (not shredded), cheese and Italian peppers on a bun. The accompaniments from lettuce, to the peppers to the sauces are all artisanal. The only small note is that it appears this is a one person operation so the wait can be a little long if there just happens to be a crowd in front of you. Nevertheless, definitely worth a visit and worth supporting this chef that brought a piece of America...
