Mira Hostaria: We were searching for a restaurant by the waterfront and also with some sunshine. Mira Hostaria had it all, a table on the waterfront, the sun shining, the atmosphere and the Italian ambiance. However… It is said, ‘Good food=Poor Service’ or ‘Good Service=Poor Food’. Mira Hostaria is an example of this. The food is amazing! Absolutely beautiful and the portion sizes are generous, alongside the alcohol in the drinks. We we really happy with our choices too. Mira Hostaria would really benefit if they paid attention to details as well as just the food. It would be nice to have a warmer welcome. We had to ask for Parmesan cheese! I thought this was standard in Italy? Nobody came back to see how we were getting on and we waited a while for our bill, we had to then ask for it. The bathroom is also in the most awkward place, not comfortable at all for the table next to the bathroom. A great place, a great choice, but if they scrubbed up a just a little they could be better. Also if they employed more female staff. This would benefit them too. I’d recommend it, highly but don’t expect too much from the service. Thank you for the ‘Mira Hostaria’ experience. I wish you all the best in your future...
Read moreThis is my first negative comment ever related to dining in restaurant. Mira Hostaria is located in a nice place with amazing view to Venice canal, however, this is only one positive thing I can say about it.
I am not very picky with food, however, last week me and my wife had a lunch in this restaurant and it was our worst experience ever. I ordered sea bass with potatoes. Firstly, bread that was brought together with this dish was very dry and it was almost impossible to bite. I thought that I can damage my teeth by taking a bite. I think bread was sliced couple of days ago, dried and then brought to customer.
Potatoes were not properly baked. I felt that they were raw. I never ate such poorly prepared potatoes in my life. Also, there was so much salt in sea bass that it was almost impossible to eat. My wife had similar experience as well.
We ordered Spritz with Aperol, however, Aperol quantity was so low that I could taste only soda water only.
Based on our experience we think that restaurant chef does not have any clue how to prepare food or drinks.
I would recommend avoiding this place. We were in other restaurants in Venice where food was prepared by original Venetians and food...
Read moreCan’t remember the last time I’ve written a review but I feel like I actually have to this time. Me and my boyfriend went here the last evening of our trip. To say the least the pastas were unfortunately the worst we have had in Venice. My gnocchi were grey-ish and did not taste well at all. My boyfriends seafood pasta were overcooked and only the scampi heads were served (barely any meat) and it tasted nothing. On top of it we were served the wrong bottle of wine but charged for a 5€ more expensive one. The waiter were polite but the chefs excuses was not acceptable. He stated that he had done so many dishes that day that he was ”lacking concentration”?? And he also admitted that the dishes he sent out to be served was not looking good. The solution offered to this was a free choice of one dish to share from the menu, not completely happy with that but the meet we ordered then was alright. Bill came out to ~90€ and was definitely not worth it. We sat next to an family from Austrailia that also complained about their food (pasta and fish) and neither of us could believe how the restaurant has such high ratings. Would...
