San Giovanni Vini e Cicchetti — Restaurant in Venice

Visiting this bar is like looking for a horrible experience. The first thing that should scare you away should be the fact that this bar does not have a menu. When we ordered a Spritz, the waiter brought us the big size without asking, and made us pay 7 euros each. A normal Spritz in Venice should be around 3 euros. When we told the waiter that we never ordered the big size, he tried to tell us it was the normal size. He told us this, because he thought we were tourists, but we have lived here a couple of months now, so we know that this isn't true. The waiter also brought us the wrong cicchetti, and denied this fact. As soon as we said something was not right in a polite way, he became very rude and disrespectful. I would not recommend this...

I found this place to be a tourist trap.

In appearance it is a very normal venue. I was with my partner and asked for a vernouth. Following my partner asked for a wine and we were served.

After checking the prices I was surprised to discover I had been served a €10 vermouth and my partner an €18 glass of wine. This was very unexpected because the place looks everything but an expensive bar.

There were locals coming in and ordering without specifics, they were served normally priced drinks.

Although I confronted the waiter about it I could tell he could not care less, he probably does that routinely.

This Cicchetti Bar has a quite prominent location. Sitting on a small square close to the Rialto Bridge.

It's a smaller place and we took a seat inside (there were too many smokers outside). Just a quick bite: Three Cicchetti and two glasses of Red Wine.

The cicchetti weren't so innovative, but fresh and tasty. One with lard, one with Shrimp and one with Blue Cheese and Balsamico. The red wine here wasn't cheap, but very good. Got some good choice of wine here. Service was - especially for this busy location - very friendly.
