If Venice is a dream painted in golden light and soft shadows, then Very Good Pizzeria, Bigoleria, Gnoccheria is one of its most unforgettable brushstrokes. Set right on the canal’s edge, this open-air gem offers more than a meal—it’s an experience, where authentic flavors, heartfelt hospitality, and the soft hum of an accordion come together in perfect harmony. All dining takes place outdoors, just steps from the shimmering water, with the kitchen nestled behind. As you savor each bite, a musician strolls nearby, gently coaxing timeless melodies from an accordion that seem to float on the night breeze. Table lights cast a warm, golden glow, illuminating joyful faces and clinking glasses with a touch of quiet elegance. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like part of the family. Always ready with a smile, a helpful recommendation, or a sweet greeting for our little boy, their care was as memorable as the dishes themselves. We began with crisp, bruschetta and perfectly fried calamari, then moved on to handmade pastas that were nothing short of divine. The bigoli with mussels felt like a sea breeze in a bowl, the pesto version was bright and comforting, and the gnocchi with crab and tomato—light, luscious, unforgettable. Every dish arrived like a love letter from the heart of Italy. Pair it all with a local wine, music in the air, and the sparkle of water beside your table, and you have not just a dinner, but a memory. “Very Good”? More like absolutely...
Read moreDelicious, as the name of the resturant states it is "very good"! Just slightly off the main path of Venice it is worth visiting as the food is delicious and is priced cheaper than restaurants along the main strip. We met the owner and the chef as we were walking and they were very informative of the menu and made suggestions. The pizza they have is delicious and possibly one of the top 3 that I had during my Italy vacation! She had informed us that the dough takes roughly 3 days to make, this is called Scrocchiarella which is on the first page of the menu. I recommend getting this type of pizza as the dough is very light and it seems unique vs all other pizzas!
Note* if you order the 2-3 person portion you can ask for half the pizza to be one topping and the other half to be another topping.
We also got the squid ink pasta which was delicious! Al dente and very tasty to eat along with the house wine. For dessert we shared a panna cotta with chocolate sauce which was delicious.
100% recommend checking this place out, you will not be disappointed and if you eat during dinner you can take a stroll up the street to catch the sunset. There is covered dining outside right by the canal which gives it a very romantic vibe.
Random note: I really liked their dishes they are very...
Read moreThe worst meal we had during the whole 2 weeks in Italy. We were having such high hopes for this place, because the ladies who were waiters in there were very polite, friendly, and repeated so many times ''homemade food (which is quite confusing, how else if not homemade?''''. The views, of course, are lovely, by the canal. But food price is totally not matching the quality, flavour. Guys, there are much better places in Venice (I can give you names of them if you want to take some examples from them), who maybe don't have Venice canal view but the food is cheaper and way better!!! We ordered lasagna and gnocchi! Lasagna was horrible, it was not freshly made but heated on the pan or something. They didn't bring any cheese to garnish it on the top compared to other places in Venice. This horrible lasagna even didn't have anything on the side like salad or smth. Just a piece of not fresh lasagna. Totally dull and I have to agree with other reviews saying similar. Definitely, it is not the lasagna you would be coming for to Italy. My gnocchi was even more horrible, I love fish and everything related to it, but this gnocchi had some disgusting fish sauce or something which even I didn't want to continue to eat. Not recommended,...
