Bue Nero — Restaurant in Verona

I did not stay in this hotel. I originally booked thru AirBnb a PRIVATE ROOM for 4 people. I saw that something was amiss & they promptly replied - I called for clarification (in a conversation their agent says never occurred). In short, they said that for 4 ppl, I would need to reserve 2 rooms. I left the paid reservation as is, understanding that it would be for 2 people only. One month later, they contacted me - refusing to speak by phone - stating if I still wanted the 2 rooms I would have to pay more (naturally, for the second room - no problem) / but also for the original reservation. Absurd. After I disagreed, I had to scramble (now 1 week prior to colleagues arriving from Egypt / USA / Canada) to find new lodging. They then courteously offered to maintain the original rate, but it was too late - I had already booked elsewhere. I was out the 65 euro but when I complained to AirBnb they were ON IT promptly. They answered immediately, calling me repeatedly to put it right, and then again to make sure all was taken care of. They were amazing – and reimbursed my cancellation fee IN FULL. Although I have booked about 12 more rooms for me & my staff without them due to my disappointment, I now am more confident to use Airbnb again.

On the Plus side: Very very clean, recently refurbished rooms Very comfortable mattress (rare to be found in Italy) Amazing location. Very good base to start exploring Verona

Neutral: Service at the bar was ok, depends extremely on the waiter. We had a very nice one who was always smiling Food is ok. There are amazing Osterie surrounding the bar, but the bar offers food until late at night and it's quite good.

On the Minus side (suggestions for Management): It feels very much like a self-service B&B, some things you could describe better: wifi password (we had to go to the bar to ask for it), if the towels need changing, describe that they have to be put on the floor If you have a room facing the beautiful square, be aware of the fact that the music of the bar can be loud. The windows are well built, but not perfect. For me personally, the view was worth the noise (bring ear plugs, or better yet @Management offer some as a goodie)

Very stylish, if a little dark, restaurant with very friendly waitress. For the price the food was ok but a little heartless. No sauce for the burger and avocado was raw. Bolognese a little bland. Fillet excellent. Not kid friendly at all! We escaped from the rain with our two small kids. Our two year old broke (chipped) a side plate. Nothing was said until we got the bill. The manager put Euro 15.00 on the bill and the waitress was almost too embarrassed to give it to us. Apparently it is a design peace that costs more than 20 Euros but no receipt could be shown. We don’t mind paying for something we broke but just adding Euro 15 without any information? It was an accident by a two year old. If the manager came to us when it happend, different story… Heartless seems to be the main theme. We refused to pay it which ended up in a huge argument. So it left a bitter taste of otherwise great hospitality in Verona. Don’t come...
