定食飯男(ライスマン) — Restaurant in Kagoshima

What a surprise. We chose this restaurant as one of the few open ones past 2pm, and this has to be one of the top 3 restaurants we've had the last 2 weeks. The mackerel, the tuna, and the ブリ (buri, aka yellowtail or Japanese amberjack) were absolutely delicious, more so than we expected! And even though the tuna dish is normally only for the evening, the chef was very kind and agreed to make it for us.

Highly recommended!

Edit: we went back for dinner, when the place turns into a izakaya. It has a different menu which was just as delicious.

Worth making your way here from the main city and for tourists to brave the all Japanese menu. Treat it like an adventure for your senses. Beginner Japanese, Google Translate and a super friendly waitress helped us make our order - excellent yellowtail (amber jack) fish & sesame set meal, mackerel set meal.
