We spent three days at this little sake standing bar, where every moment was great. The owner is very friendly and sympathetic, and even though we used translators, the conversations were always fun and engaging. The sake tasting set offers a good variety—this is how we managed to try all sake in this bar! For the hot sake you can choose from super cute cups (liked the whale 🐳 one). And try the cucumber snack 😬 If we return to Japan we will come back.

My wife and I found this standing Sake Bar and visited while on our trip to Kyoto.

Just down a little alleyway and up the stairs is a small but inviting sake bar. We were greeted by Tomo and we got the Sake Tasting Menu to start. Tomo poured us each 3 different sakes.

We also ordered some food as well which he made and it was quite good for being a sake bar. Great bar snacks I would say.

Tomo was very nice, we had a great conversation and he was very accommodating as visitors that do not speak Japanese.

I would recommend all visitors to give this...

Extremely kind and knowledgeable owner. Our group of 3 spent almost 2 hours here tasting amazing sake and talking with him. Some really unique flavors I’d never experienced before! He runs an excellent bar and is a great host. Standing only, maybe 7-9 seats in the whole place - but if you want to try sakes you probably can’t get anywhere else, make the time to come here.
