Was attracted by the excellent reviews of the place. A little out of the way, but I was craving some good yakitori. When I stepped in the place, I should have turned around and left. Cigarette smoked filled. No welcoming.. Prep being done on the bar top. So I missed the warning signs and stayed. And the adventure begins. The chef can only prep one order at a time. So there was a wait. Got in abt 7.00 and the first serving came about 8. Not exaggerating. Finished eating about 8.40 and asked for the bill. Got a shock. Was overcharged and assistant was ‘too busy’ to pay any attention. The chef was also ‘too busy’ to explain anything to me (they actually said, “i am too busy”). They dropped an order chit, which I obviously couldn’t read, and another order form, which was was the chef cooked to. I took out the menu and calculated the cost of what I ordered, added tax and it was still lower than what I was quoted. Staff refused to acknowledge or explain the order. I just wasted almost 2 hours on mediocre food and I get cheated as well. Stupid gaijin, deserved to...
Read moreNo words to describe this place, but I will try. The place is very small and it is definitely a folkloric restaurant. The owner is a old lady. She arrived when I was having dinner. She seated on the counter with a cat toy wearing clothes like child and started to cut chicken meat to do the yakitori. You can’t go to this place if you want to hurry or you can’t wait for long time. It is better to ask some beers. The barbecue charcoal was very small. And the bbq man did few sticks by each time. Sometimes he used a scissors to cut the meat. Don’t worry, the taste was amazing and very well done. I really recommend to eat this yakitori. The young girl was a waitress and she was so kind and funny. You must try! Just try! Price was not high but more expensive than typical large yakitori shop. Tip! Ask all your food when you arrive if not you will spend more than 2...
Read moreWe were here on 02nd of Jan. Really wanted yakitoris for dinner but so many places were closed.
Came upon this and decided to give it a go. We were elated! They were four of us but there were some language barrier but they informed we need to order at least 1 drink for each of us and spend a minimum of 3000 yen. The place is rather small and I think could only seat 18 people at a time.
Food was delicious and really well grilled skewers. The internal organs were fantastic & chicken neck (seseri, shio style) probably one of the best we had. Drinks were good and overall reasonably price.
A gem amongst so many eateries here.
Note: the chef may seem rude but he was just slightly loud and really did not want to keep customers waiting. Dining at Yakitoris Izakaya is usually quite slow as the chef would need time to ensure each sticks are grilled...
