POOH is a special place. As the other reviews attest, its charm is undeniable. But for my friend and I, it was more than just another cute cafe, it was a place to feel.
A weathered sign beckoned us up a narrow staircase. Our gracious hostess led us to a window seat, amidst the warm glow of the morning sun. The soft hum of radio chatter interrupted by the occasional chime of a mini-grandfather clock under repair by an older gentleman, aided by a younger one ā it was a scene straight from the past. The food was exactly what we ordered. But what set it apart was how we could immediately tell it was prepared with a love.
We returned the next day, eager to soak in the same atmosphere. We were greeted with a smile of recognition by the hostess. While not as nostalgia-filled as our prior visit, it was undoubtedly well worth it for the familial warmth one rarely gets when traveling. As we were about to depart, the older gentleman (from the previous day) came to our table and personally thanked for our return visit.
