We were recommended to visit Sake Bumpy by our friend in Tokyo. Our visit to Sake Bumpy in Kyoto was truly unforgettable. Coming here with three of my good friends, we indulged in an evening filled with delightful sake and exquisite food. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, whose friendliness and hospitality instantly set the tone for an exceptional experience.
The ambiance of the place was inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. As sake enthusiasts, we were thrilled by the extensive selection of premium sakes available, each offering a unique flavor profile that tantalized our taste buds.
Speaking of the food, every dish we tried was a masterpiece. From traditional Japanese delicacies to innovative fusion creations, each plate was a celebration of flavors and textures. The attention to detail and the quality of ingredients were evident in every bite, leaving us craving for more.
Overall, our time at Sake Bumpy surpassed all expectations. It was more than just a meal; it was an enchanting journey through the rich culinary heritage of Japan, accompanied by great company and impeccable service. Read moreThis is an absolutely EPIC experience!!! The sole focus of this amazing little bar is sake so if you’re looking to learn more about this beautiful alcohol this is the place. You pay for 2 hours of unlimited tasting and choose what you want to try from the fridge. The owner hand picks all the bottles from around the country and explains everything from the individual brewer to the type of sake and its process. Everything we tried was incredible and I couldn’t believe the amazing selection that was on hand. Some were very hard to find and from small craft breweries so that was really special as you’ll never be able to find them in store. We had SUCH a great time and the owner is the friendliest, loveliest man you could possibly meet. He really made us feel like we were at a friend’s house. There is also a small plates menu to go along with the tasting. The bar itself is really cozy with cool hand painted murals on the walls, soft warm lighting and good music. We spent 3 hours here (i suggest you arrive relatively sober lol). It’s also gay friendly! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! One of the highlights of our trip, we’ll definitely be back next time we come to Kyoto!!...
Read moreWe entered to have a random glass of sake to close our last night in Kyoto. We left with an appreciation for how different sake can be.
We arrived at the bar very early. Too early even for what we were looking for.
The rules of the house are that there is a "all you can drink in 2 hours" deal going on until 11pm. Great option if that's what you are looking for as it costs only 3.500 yen (and if you are a fast drinker you can fit a lot of glasses in 2 hours!).
The most interesting thing though is that the owner has a fridge with at least 2 dozens of different sakes to try.
We ended up settling for a customized mini tasting menu of 4 glasses.
The owner chose the bottles for us to give us a taste of different possibilities. He also answered our questions in good English and those of the other customers in the place.
I wish we had more time to enjoy the place fully. Maybe next time that we...
