I experienced what truly felt like a real Napolitan pizza in Osaka. The pizza’s high, airy crust and thin center were spot on, and the mozzarella was of excellent quality, no imitation here! The pomodoro sauce was rich and flavorful, and all ingredients, from the flour to the olive oil, were imported from Italy, adding to the authenticity. The olive oil had a nice hint of spice, just like in Italy. The dough was incredibly digestible, likely due to a long fermentation process, and the pizzaiolo’s attention to keeping the dough moist was evident. Now for the not so good. First there is a seating charge of 330yen, which guests are not informed about before entering the restaurant. Second, the soft drinks are more expensive than the alcohol. Third, the pizza we ordered (Puranesca) did not list any fish in it's ingredient list when there was clearly fish in the pizza. I have a (luckily) weak fish allergy and will now be feeling sick all night. I've eaten in many restaurants around Namba and have to say: there are restaurants nearby with a similar atmosphere, as good if not better food, no seating charge, and acceptable soft drink prices.
