Sushi Kiyohara — Restaurant in Osaka

This was an unexpected but very welcome surprise. We were looking for the restaurant on the ground floor, but we were curious what was on the first floor. And what a jewel we found! It’s a little hard to find but don’t give up. Take a good look at the pictures and you’ll find it. The two chefs make sushi and sashimi of very high quality on the spot. You can see the excellent knife skills of the chefs working behind the counter. Your sushi or sashimi is served with fresh wasabi. We had, amongst other sushi, an omakase dish of different sushi and also the best Japanese custard egg I ever tasted. On the bottom of this custard we found abalone and octopus and on top little pieces of celery. Amazing tastes! Along with the best dry sake. +) 18년도에 작성한 혐한 관련 리뷰 수정 아마 주인 분이 바뀌신 듯 합니다. 이렇게 추측한 2가지 이유가 있는데요.

일단 리뷰 별점이 좋아졌고 한국인 리뷰가 많아졌습니다. 제가 18년도에 갔을 때는 한국어 할 수 있는 사람이 아무도 없었고 한국어 리뷰도 저 포함 2개 있었습니다. 제가 현지충ㅋㅋ이라서 외국가면 꼭 한국인 리뷰 거의 없는 현지인 가는 곳 좋아하거든요. 제 기억에 여기 별점이 코로나 직전~직후 즈음 마지막으로 확인했을 때 4.1점 정도로 지금보다 낮았습니다.

제가 18년에 방문할 때 서빙 업무하시던, 아마 사장님 부인분으로 추정되던 분이 최근 리뷰 사진 속 여성 분이랑 다르신 분이네요. 요리하시던 사장님 얼굴은 사실 기억이 잘 나지 않아요. 왜냐면 제일 구석진 자리 물류 쌓아놓은 곳에서 벽보고 식사했더니 ^^ 벽보고 반성하기 벌칙인 줄ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 암튼 혐한 걱정은 조금 내려놓고 가셔도 될 듯 합니다. 물론 다른 리뷰 보니까 고의인지 아닌지 모르지만 계산을 올려치기 해서 바가지 씌웠단 얘기는 있으니 각자 알아서 선택하시는 걸로.. 맥주에 그림 그려주는 서비스도 원래 없었는데 생겼네요.

++) 그리고 이건 제 뇌피셜이긴 한데 6시반에 도착했을 때 저에게 7시 20분에 다시 오라고 한 건 교토식 돌려말하기 화법, 즉 어차피 자리 없을테니 딴데 가세요 라는 뜻으로 했을 수 있겠단 생각도 조금 드네요. 근데 외국인인 제가 그거까지 파악해서 대처했어야했나 싶고, 암튼 18년도 키요하라의 서비스는 최악이었습니다.

6시반에 갔을 때 7시 20분에 오라고 해서 알았다고 했다. 시간 맞춰갔더니 까먹음. 결국 물건 잔뜩 쌓인 간이책상 같은데에 안내.

거기서 발도 제대로 못 뻗었다. 서비스 개판이다. 안가야한다. 한국 사람이라 이런 건가 싶을정도. 진짜 너무 불쾌. 추가주문하려니까 다른 일본인들 상대하느라 전혀 신경쓰지 않음.

계속 메뉴판들고 신호 보내도 아는척도 안함. 분위기 안좋은거 알고는 갑자기 곧 자리 만들어준다는데 개짜증난다ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 어이가 없네. 결국 자리 안바꿔줌ㅋㅋㅋ

음식맛은 그냥 괜찮은 정도고 고등어회는 꽤 많이 비림. 한국에서 먹었을 때는 비린적 없는데 뭐 이런 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 걍 딴데가세요 진짜 불쾌한데 제대로 된 사과도 없었음.

Review based on visit in 2018 I am pretty sure this was the worst experience in Osaka. I visited Kiyohara at 6:30pm. The owner said the seat would be available after 7:20pm. But when I got there 7:20pm there was no seat available. It seems like the owner forgot about it. I had to seat at temporary table which was made of pile of cups. It was one of the best sushi experience I had in my life. Its small and only owners are working so it could be slow but disregarding waiting time food is fabulous. I not good at explaining things but sushi rice is made perfect with condition of the rice and fish made it so gourmet. Definitely will go back if I have a chance to go back to Osaka.
