This place was absolutely great, and the staff here are incredibly patient and kind. I’m from Los Angeles, grew up in a Japanese/Korean community, and just came from a trip to Seoul and ate yakiniku at some well-rated (and expensive) places in Tokyo. I can say hands down this is the best grilled beef (not just best yakiniku) I’ve ever had.
I went by myself at a random time between lunch and dinner on a weekday and I was the only person in the store. I worked with 3-4 staff members (whoever is available comes to help) and although I don’t speak Japanese and they don’t speak English, there is an English menu (you can view it via QR code) and the staff took the time to use a translation app on their phone to make sure they understood me correctly. They offered me suggestions which turned out to be better than what I would’ve picked, and also were honest in telling me that I was ordering too much food (I didn’t realize what I was ordering in the app were huge full portions and I could order half portions). They even found me outside of the store when I left to make sure I had my umbrella! (It was raining a lot). Absolutely great service.
Now for the food- the best yakiniku I’ve ever had. I really just couldn’t stop eating it. The best thing was the suki-shabu (I think it was called) where they marinade thin slices of meat in sukiyaki sauce and you dip it into a raw egg yolk. The harami was also excellent, and the kalbi, too. The marinades and sauces were just so incredibly good, better than any of the yakiniku/KBBQ places I’ve tried. Meat quality was excellent, everything tasted fresh.
Added plus: they also do to-go, which is rare for Japanese restaurants like this, especially yakiniku. They have takeout containers and you grill the meat yourself to put it in a to-go box, and they have to...
Read moreI recently made a reservation at 万両 日本橋店 through their official website, but my experience was unfortunately disappointing.
First, the table assigned to me was the worst in the restaurant. I was seated facing a wall, which made the ventilation poor and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The space was also extremely cramped, making it difficult to move in and out. Although there were other available tables in the restaurant, when I approached the staff to request a change, I was informed that all other tables were reserved. To my surprise, I did not see anyone occupy those tables throughout my meal. I have never encountered a situation where a restaurant assigns a reserved customer the least desirable table, which significantly impacted my dining experience.
Additionally, the quality of the ingredients seemed inferior compared to other branches, and the food was not tasty.
Overall, my visit to 万両 日本橋店 was far from satisfactory, and I hope they can address these issues for...
