Like a step back into an 80's diner. Has a relaxed family vibe. Great place if you are new to Japan and/or have mixed levels of culinary adventurousness in your family. 1st day in Japan, my younger girls were not quite ready to jump into eating Natto, grilled fish, etc so chose pancakes, French toast, etc. I had a traditional Japanese style breakfast with Grilled fish, miso, radish, rice, etc. It was great to be able to have a mixed style of breakfasts in one place. Pretty decent value too. All you can drink tea, coffee, juice...
Read moreMy husband and I were exploring around 人形町 on a very cold Saturday lunchtime. Many interesting eateries were still not open, but we saw “Jonathan’s Restaurant” and thought, “We haven’t been here in a long time, let’s eat here.”
It was around 1:30 pm. The place was quite full, but there were still available tables inside. We ordered “ほうれん草とベーコンのソテー”, “ぐるぐるソーセージ”, “北海道産ビーフ100%ステーキハンバーグ”, “ビーフリブロースステーキ 和風オニオンソース”, and a glass of beer.
The “ほうれん草とベーコンのソテー” and beer arrived first. The portion of spinach was bigger than we expected, and we were happy about it. It also tasted great. The “ぐるぐるソーセージ” looked and tasted good. The “北海道産ビーフ100%ステーキハンバーグ” was for my husband, and I tried some — I liked it. The “ビーフリブロースステーキ 和風オニオンソース” was for me. The beef was thin and soft, tasty, but about one-third was fat. I enjoyed the taste with the sauce. The baked potato and broccoli didn’t have much taste on their own, but they were delicious with the onion sauce. The only downside was that there wasn’t enough sauce for the potatoes and broccoli — I wish they had given me more.
Overall, the food tasted good, and we could tell that compared to some other family restaurants, the ハンバーグ didn’t taste as processed, and the ロースステーキ was of better quality. However, we didn’t feel full, and considering the total price, we expected either larger portions or a better atmosphere. I don’t think we’ll come back here again. If we want to eat at a family restaurant, there are plenty of better...
Read moreAmazing Jonathan's! I was in Tokyo two years ago for holidays, and everytime I didn't know where to go later at night for a meal or coffee... There was Jonathan's 🙂 The atmosphere is nice, it's like being back in the 60s or 70s. The staff was very kind, and I enjoyed both food and drinks. Nice and quiet place that both my brother and I remember! I'll certainly be back when I'm...
