This is probably my current favorite restaurant. The quality here is a cut above a typical yakitori place, especially the premium chicken breast and premium chicken thigh skewers. The meat is so juicy and the outer layer so crispy, I could eat them by the boatload. Also, the avocado and tomato, coal grilled in a traditional Japanese way, works so well, it’s hard to believe these are not native foods to Japan. The avocado in particular, with the pit filled with soy sauce and a dab of wasabi, could easily someday grow to become a future Japanese culinary staple. The tsukune and dango tsukune, served with a raw egg, both also appeal to my American palette. Those ones are a bit difficult to describe, you’ll just have to try them for yourself to see what I’m talking about. When dining on the company dime, I order about twenty just for myself. They’re pretty darn good.
The selection of sake, shochu, and whiskies is small, though impressive in quality and variety. The owner prides himself for acquiring exotic alcohols. If you’re into that sort of thing, this is a worthwhile destination.
I love this place so much. The owner is a good guy who loves to talk and learn about other countries. Just make sure you have some sort of way to communicate any allergies you may have. Also, be warned, the food does take a while to cook, so when you come here, make sure you have some...
Read moreTried it on holiday, the best yakitori I've had in my life, they were welcoming for foreigners who spoke no japanese but we got by using google translate. Its almost a degustation type meal because each skewer that comes out is finely cooked to perfection and you can see the intensity and focus the chef applies to his cooking. Definitely for those who want to try high quality yakitori, not those who are looking for stuff their faces with...
