The food was pretty standard from an Italian resturant in Japan. The waiter told us that the restaurant has been here since 1963. When you go inside you can feel the passage of time as people leave train tickets or business cards on the wall! The atmosphere is cute. Special note to the cutlery holders (?) which added that touch of refinement. Food wise we ordered the lasagna and the pumpkin gnocchi. The lasagna was not the best I've ever had but the gnocchis were reaaaaally good. Too bad the portion was a little small because we loved it. It was not chewy at all and we could feel the pumpkin flavour. The sauce that came with it was also really yummy, sort of creamy, cheesy !! Read moreThe pizza was simply... not good at all. Small, full of cheap cheese, pizza dough tasted like low end pizza. Actually I think this was frozen pizza, and a cheap one. On a small Japanese island I had a frozen pizza in a snack... which tasted OK and was actually half the price. But this is not the point : the point is I expected real Italian food in a nice restaurant atmosphere. What my friends had was better but not really good either... and the tiramisu... well as disapointing as the pizza.
Either there is a new chef or quality went really down or I cannot explain myself this...
Read moreCame here for dinner on Saturday night and had a good experience. The basement level restaurant has a unique old world atmosphere with dim lighting. The servers were nice and attentive. They offer an English menu. The food was delicious. The antipasto salad had squid, clams, and salame. The seafood pasta is highly recommended. The mixed pizza was good with its thin crust.
