Disappointing Experience – Lowest Culinary Point of My Tokyo Visit

Unfortunately, this was the worst dining experience during my 4-day stay in Tokyo.

Food:

Charcuterie Board: A major letdown. It consisted of just two slices of cured meat, one and a half dried-out slices of mortadella, and a couple of thin, mediocre salami slices.

Wagyu Grilled Meat: This was the biggest disappointment. It looked nothing like the photos. The meat seemed overcooked, as if left in sous vide for 10 hours, leaving it dry and flavorless. It's hard to dry out fatty steak, but they managed. Such a waste of quality ingredients.

Chicken Liver Bruschetta: The only decent dish, but it was literally just one slice of bread with mousse on top. There was nothing else on the plate. Hard to understand why they called it bruschetta.

Red Wine: Tried both available options, and neither was enjoyable. The first was outright bad, and the second was mediocre at best.

Service: The service was confusing, and we ended up ordering more food than we wanted. They didn’t even provide water, which added to the frustration.

If you have no other options, this place might suffice, but otherwise, I’d strongly recommend...

I stayed at the Hotel Rose Garden for 8 nights and came here 4. Loved the 40s style soft swing in the background and watching the guys in the open kitchen do their thing. Food is really good. It’sa bit pricey when you add the drinks and the last night travel card didn’t work which I found really strange because it worked every other night and had $ on it, so I had to find cash, lucky I had it, but the staff are very thorough and diligent and I watched them write carefully as I was on my own. They care about what they do. I’d book if more than two turning up, especially later in the week, but if you have a special night or $$ then do it. It’s great! The meat is exceptional, juicy and tender, the sauces perfect, the chef extraordinary. Desserts are so so but you’re really here for the mains and the starters - extra fresh salad, Avo...

Absolutely superb.

We walked in on the first night..and were so impressed we came back the second night for more!

Cosy, comfortable environment, fabulous and friendly atmosphere. Staff excellent and at least one member of staff each night had enough of a grasp of English for us to be able to communicate effectively.

Food.....superb.

We worked our way thru a significant portion of the menu and every dish impressed.

Highlight : The Wagu Beef!!
