Went to this place and ordered daal and naan bc I’m Indian/Punjabi and missed the food here, and told my Indian male waiter he proceeded to tell me to NOT get HOT bc they have 4 levels of spicy and that it’s TOO SPICY, then the other male waiter asked me the same question mid-meal and proceeded to tell me there’s a language barrier with an Indian waiter speaking English to me, they sort of tried to gaslight me into the whole thing. Didn’t appreciate it, the food is very mild and that’s fine and I asked for HOT (spicy) BUT he urged me to get little hot not HOT, AND then when they came over to ask if it was HOT which I don’t understand why - then they told me there’s dish is just that way LOL I eat this everyday of my life as an Indian woman what do they mean??? Then he proceeded to speak LOUDER like I didn’t understand him. Which was so rude. They need to be much kinder or just have the nice female waitress instead do the ordering. The men were rude and unprofessional. Since I’m Indian and spoke both English and Hindi there should have been no issue. Don’t recommend this place based on service. You need to not be rude to women dining solo as I noticed he was much nicer to a group of ppl :) bad karma and don’t blame a language barrier when I spoke in English and...
Read moreCame to Old Daohei Ginza and ordered the curry set (2,580 yen) with butter chicken and shrimp curry. Honestly, not worth the price.
The butter chicken had only three small pieces of chicken, and the shrimp curry came with just two pieces of what seemed like frozen shrimp — both light on protein. Flavor-wise, they were decent, but nothing particularly memorable.
The sides were extremely low effort. The salad felt like something thrown together at home, and the dessert was just supermarket yogurt with two tiny slices of orange and kiwi. The rice was also overcooked.
I get that prices in Ginza tend to be higher, but for curry fans expecting substance and quality, this set would feel more appropriate at around 1,200 yen. Overall, a disappointing value for...
Read moreThe Indian staff is very rude and the overall customer experience is super bad compared to any other restaurants in Japan. As we kept waiting outside, we were told that there is only set meal menu available and we need to order atleast one per person (In a demeaning and rude tone). We just ignored the tone of the staff and sat inside as we were super hungry. The same person gave us the menu and 15 seconds after he rushed us to order. I demanded for a minute and he never came to us after. We ordered butter chicken curry set with saffron rice and vegetable curry set with Naan. Food was decent and did fill us up. Naan and chicken were the best. It’s such a shame to have the terrible customer service and interaction...
