We had a wonderful experience till the very end when the service took a sour turn and left a bad taste in our mouth.
The whole omakase experience and service from our chef was very friendly and we found the vibe to be enjoyable. The food was really good and even though she was quite quick to serve the next bite we found the food to be so enjoyable we didn’t need anymore time anyway. It did feel as if there was something of a planning. But again at that moment it was fine.
At the end we got the bill via the waitress even though we didn’t ask for it yet and I wanted to double check about the amount of drinks we had on our tab as I wasn’t sure myself. Could be language barrier but the waitress got kind of edgy where the chef stayed friendly/professional. The way the waitress reacted it got awkward quickly, which I didn’t get as I was just double checking. In the end they changed the amount and brought the new bill, the way she put/ slammed the new bill on the table wasn’t friendly. Could be due to her way of giving service, annoyed by the change of drinks or because there was indeed a planning to adhere too and she had haste. I don’t know. I gave her my card which she wanted to take with her, I explained that I probably would need to insert my pincode. She didn’t seem to understand or had the patience to. But because in some restaurants/shops only touch would work in the past I just let her try it. She came back and said it didn’t work and if I had another card to pay with, I explained that the card had worked everywhere in Japan for three weeks and that I probably had to insert my code, her obviously annoyed response was ‘why not other card(weird) I mentioned again about that if I could just put in my code it would probably work, she then quite rudely sighed and said I should follow her to the kitchen. I walked to the kitchen, (she already went ahead) and when I came in she firmly said stop here, the way how she said it was rude. She got the machine and I put in my pincode and she said ‘okay go’ the way she said it was so rude I was actually shocked. I just stared at her and when I wanted to ‘go’ she said doesn’t work and she shoved the card in my hands and that she needed another card.
After almost experiencing three weeks of Japan quality of service, which is so friendly and so professional I just didn’t know to react. My partner had another card with us which we gave and he had to sign the bill, she shoved the paper in his hands this time and said ‘sign’ As she was so rude my partner said to her to be kind and her response was again ‘sign’
The thing is we have experienced more language barriers in Japan, and normally with some google translate or hand gestures it always turned out fine, in our experience the Japanese are so service oriented and generally so kind. This was the first time in our whole vacation that someone was so clearly unkind, rude and unprofessional it spoiled the whole experience for us.
I don’t know what irked her so much but for the amount we payed we should be able to expect better or at least more kind service. It’s a shame as I was very positive and that changed into would not go back anymore and/or...

Read moreDelicious sushi but the lunch on the day I went had a lot of filler courses like seaweed, clam soup twice (one was a shot glass that accompanied the first dish and then given again as a bowl), edamame and watermelon. They were all good but I would've preferred more sushi or sashimi to be put in their place as well as an actual dessert to showcase the chef's work. The speed of service has very sporadic. We had a reservation for 5 and were the first group to line up before they opened. They sat us at a table rather than the bar counter even though there was a bigger party of 6 and 4 empty seats at the bar for the first batch of customers. The party of 6 was done about 20 minutes before us. A table of 2 was 10 minutes late and they was served faster and given the check almost 40 minutes before us. There were single customers who got served, ate and finished in 30 minutes. We were there for 2 hours, at some points waiting for 30 minutes for the next dish while everyone else in the restaurant was onto 5 dishes after ours. All in all it was a great, affordable omakase but don't expect it to be 100% sushi/sashimi and be prepared to either be rushed or twiddle your thumbs while everyone...
