Shiho is great
Tsukishima Monja Ku-ya inside Tokyo Station was definitely a bit of a journey to find. I was pointed in a couple different directions, and I honestly couldn’t tell if the staff giving directions were miscommunicating or if I was just not comprehending things correctly in the maze that is Tokyo Station. Either way, patience is required. But once I finally arrived, I was glad I stuck with it.
The restaurant itself had a cozy, casual vibe. The servers were immediately welcoming and attentive, which helped me relax after the mini scavenger hunt it took to get there. One of them noticed right away that I wasn’t local and offered an English menu — a huge plus for tourists who may not be familiar with monjayaki or how to order it.
The menu had pictures and clear descriptions, which made it much easier to pick something. The food came out sizzling hot, and the experience of cooking monja on the griddle right at your table was fun and interactive. Staff helped explain how to do it if you needed guidance. Overall, once you find it, this place delivers a solid and authentic monja experience — worth the search, especially if you’re near...
Read moreI went here on my very last day in Japan, and I got one of the best okonomiyaki here I had eaten in Japan. I was lucky and didn't even have to wait in line.
The look of the restaurant is a little odd, but it is certainly interesting, especially with the open layout where some seats are completely open on the side to the inner food court walkway. They played some great music while I was here, japanese city pop.
The food was great, expertly cooked for me in front of me by Ririka. She was very nice and social, and great at making okonomiyaki, very tasty.
Would recommend for anyone looking for okonomiyaki around...
Read moreWe got here around noon on a weekday and the restaurant was full. We put our name down and were seated promptly. We got an English menu, and we tried 3 manjas: the signature mentaiko and mochi, the plum and tako, and the pork and kimchi with extra mochi toppings. We all loved the mentaiko and mochi the most, so we ordered another one, this time with an extra mochi topping. Keisuke (pronounced K-sk) was our server and manja chef, and he was such an excellent cook! He was also fast and friendly. We had a fantastic time, and the whole meal was at a reasonable 8000 yen. Highly...
