Don’t expect a pleasant service or even a beverage.
Tip…Hide your rubbish! If you have rubbish that you can’t throw away immediately hide it out of sight so this person won’t stop you from entering the cafe to buy a drink.
Wasn’t allowed to enter the cafe to buy anything to take out. Never experienced such awful service before. It has tainted my image of Tully’s.
A person I assume is the manager was rather unpleasant. We had empty drink containers that we had been carrying half the day as Tokyo is lacking in public bins. The person automatically assumed we were foreigners attempting to speak to us in English saying we could not enter the store with our empty drinks containers.
They told us to throw away our empty drinks then we could enter. We said we just wanted to buy a drink and go but they said no. The rest of the conversation was in Japanese so there isn’t a language barrier.
There is no bin nearby so did they expect us to spend who knows how long & far to find a bin to throw away our rubbish then go back to the cafe where we had an extremely unpleasant encounter.
I don’t have plans to return to this cafe. Especially if this particular person is working there, as it increases my chances of not being able to buy a drink.
Honestly I wouldn’t even give one star given our experience or lack of. However, we thought it best to write a review for others to see...

It was a Monday afternoon but there was quite a bit of crowd maybe due to Sakura season. There actually were two or three Sakura trees in full blooms nearby.
I was fortunate to get a window seat although it was not quite right in front. I ordered a seasonal Sakura matcha latte. It was oishii. Not too sweet. I had a mixed feeling about the atmosphere. There were half people reading and the rest were chatting quietly but just one table of tourists were talking lively. But I was glad they didn’t stay long. There’s also outside seating and another room with...
Read moreThis Tully's is not so much for the food or coffee, but definitely for the views and vibe. Despite being practically next door to the ultra-busy Asakusa, it feels worlds away with its calm atmosphere and unbeatable views.
The staff are also able to converse confidently in English, which is a huge help to tourists who don't really speak any Japanese.
Seats are a bit limited, because it's quite a small store, so best time to go is probably in the evening when crowds...
