Ms&Mr Beer — Restaurant in Riga

A bit tucked away in a alley, you'll find this pub: clearly the outcome of an accurate interior design project, its nice and warm interiors are a collection of memorabilia ranging from an old motorbike and a car, to a surgical lamp hanging over your head. The whole venue is fitted with wooden furniture and other objects from the past, rearranged in a way that gives you a comfortable place to drink a beer or two. If you pay a visit to the men's restroom, downstairs, you'll see there an old switchboard on the wall: if you operate the right switches (try those from n°50 to n°60 will suggest you the bartender...) something will happen. Don't know if they do food, I don't think they do so not relevant. Very quirky bar in Old Town with good beer and pleasant staff. The tables are random bits of wood or old benches. There is an old car (with a spooky surprise in the back window) old motorcycles, the seating is good and the lighting is inspired. The main bar is not huge but there is a downstairs room or cellar which is equally original with Latvian pool, a piano and a sewing machine. I did say it was different. A decent selection of beers, quite a few in bottles or cans and some Latvian fruit spirits which really need a health warning....

The interior of this place is simply stunningly original and attractive. I have heard that a large part of the work is done by the owner himself. He loves what he is doing, so it is not just a local business but a way of life. Selection of beers is something that won't disappoint even the pickiest beer gourmets and the service is top-notch. Last but not the least is that the place is in the very heart of Riga's Old Town. I'm a local nature guide and a beer lover and I recommend this place to all my guests.
