A nice 'local neighbourhood hangout' kind of place. Quite chill atmosphere. A place you could have breakfast and chat with a hot or cold drink to be sipped throughout the conversation and realise it was time for lunch and dine and repeat for dinner time. Basically, they have a menu with large variety of different kinds of food. The drinks are a little weak, or diluted. I forgot to let them know to ease off the sweetness for the teh tarik but the was no need. It wasn't unnecessarily sweet. Mango lassi was, as the drinker explained, like Calpis but mango flavour. I had a taste and I don't know which version is more authentic to the motherland (India), but the ones I've ever had, in Sydney, was thick like a milkshake and you can taste simultaneously the mango and the yogurt. The one here was more like mango skim milk. But the food more than redeemed the lacklustre drinks. Beriyani rice was full-flavoured and fragrant, tandoori chicken was the same, the curries were tasty and were actually spicy, and the cheese naan was excellent. You'll have to enjoy it hot, though. Because then the cheese would still be stringy or sticky. And that tastes better. But after a while, even though the bread was still warm, the cheese lost its 'stringiness'. But it was still good. This is a place I'd visit often because of the many items on the menu I've yet to try, which I am confident...
Read moreThe place is easy to find, Google maps has it nailed, which for Miri is something. The eatery is very basic, the staff were very friendly, the old man could have smiled but hey. The menu offers a range of Indian style food alongside more traditional Malaysian. The chicken vindaloo is what grabbed my attention from researching the place on Maps. That was quickly ordered along with tarka dahl and garlic naan, washed down with a mango lassi. Didn't go for rice, why waste the space. The food is prepared to order, the drink was refreshing and not too thick, then after a wait of around 15 minutes, which I was pleased knowing that the food was being prepared and not just scooped out of a container. The chicken vindaloo I ordered to be spicy, it was really nice, tasty and not oily, good range of flavours, could have been a little spicier for my tastes. The dahl was awesome, nice and thick, with loads of flavours, good to see that they put in blackened dried red chillies, just how I like it. The bread too was very good, thought it looked a bit dry when I first saw it, but I was wrong, plenty of garlic and they were just right. Now I've found this place I will...

I always try to go the the nr 1 cheap eats wherever I go, and this place represents exactly why.
Friendly and very helpful staff although I was being difficult ordering, not knowing what I wanted or what things were. Ended up with some kind of crepe (roti), curry and rice with vegetables and a sweet yogurt drink I tried on recommendation, although I had a feeling it wouldn't suit my taste. Loved the entire experience and though I didn't like the drink at first it grew on me and I'm glad I tried it!
I paid: 3rm for chicken curry 4rm for rice incl. veggies 4rm cheese crepe (plain is 1rn!!) 5rm for the drink, which is their most expensive one
Going back tonight for another curry and a...
