Nana Tomyam — Restaurant in George Town

Nana Tomyam offers excellent tom yam at very reasonable prices.

We had the tomyam (chicken and udang) as well as telur dadar and kalian ikan masin.

The tomyam udang came with 4 large prawns and was well cooked and cleaned. The Tomyam chicken was good but perhaps lacked the quantity of chicken I would have liked (for the price though, it's fine). The kailan ikan masin (salted fish with kailan) was good. The star of the show though was the telur dadar which was soft, fluffy and stuffed full of sweet white onions.

And our bill was only rm21 including drinks! Would...

A buzzing place frequented by the locals- Thai-Malay cuisine which is about fresh ingredients and chillies . An open kitchen with 3 cooks and their woks- where else can you get a hot cooked meal up to 12 midnight within 5 minutes? Slightly smoky from the cooking fumes but it didn't bother me. Ordered Ayam Merah with plain rice and a side sambal belacan appeared with it- the sambal was gorgeous! The fresh watermelon juice hits the spot on a warm evening (tell them "no sugar") My supper...

Even before entering the restaurant to find the seats. The aroma of the food was very inviting. Indeed, as the food I order arrived. The fish, tom yam, kangkoong, and others were delicious. I would compare the taste of the food here to those more expensive restaurants in Gurney area.

However, do note if you are coming in a group of more than 4 people. It won't be easy to find seats.

Overall, great food in this place. And very budget-friendly!! Must visit...
