At Dindigul Thalappakatti Restaurant in Malaysia, I had an unforgettable experience that deserves a glowing review. Nestled at 130, Jalan Tun Sambanthan in Brickfields, this restaurant offers a delightful escape into the rich flavors of South Indian cuisine, particularly its renowned biryani. From the moment I entered, the warm and inviting ambiance set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. The aroma of spices wafting through the air was tantalizing, hinting at the culinary delights to come. The decor beautifully reflects South Indian culture, creating an atmosphere that feels both authentic and welcoming. I was fortunate enough to be served by Sivakumar, whose attentive and friendly service elevated my meal. He guided me through the menu with expert knowledge, passionately describing the different biryani options. I opted for the Dindigul biryani, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite revealed tender, fragrant rice perfectly infused with spices, and succulent pieces of marinated meat that melted in my mouth. The balance of flavors was impeccable, with just the right amount of heat to excite the palate without overwhelming it. Accompanying the biryani were delicious sides, including raita and spicy pickles that complemented the dish wonderfully. Sivakumar’s recommendations were spot on, and his enthusiasm for the food made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Dindigul Thalappakatti Restaurant is a gem in Kuala Lumpur. The combination of authentic cuisine, attentive service, and inviting ambiance makes it a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of South India. I left with a satisfied palate and a desire to return soon, eager to explore more of their culinary offerings. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience!

Update 8/2025: Came back here after several years. Still same layout. Friendly staff. Prices are actually reasonable now compared to other Indian restaurants. Parking a pain although there is a paid lot nearby. We ordered their chicken & mutton briyani plus a gobi Manchurian to share. Food came pretty quick. Firstly their briyani is one of the best around. Fluffy short grain rice that is packed with flavor. Great on its own. Both proteins were tender & nice. Good portion size. Comes with a hard boiled egg, raita & curry. Raita is thick & nice which helps cut the spiciness or fattiness of the meal. The gobi was another good dish. Good spice kick with slight sweetness. Addictive stuff. We loved our meal. Will definitely return more. 2017: Pretty good briyani. Different from many out there. Also have good side dishes like lollipop chicken, kottu roti, etc. Prices on the high side though.

We when to the shop located at Jln Tun Sambanthan KL Sentral.. On 13/01/2023. The food was totally out. I have never taste such a bad Mutton Briyani like tis before. Chicken curry totally out and no salt at all.. Kothu paratha was full of curry leaves and taste jus ok. Not tat bad. Still can eat. Their Chicken 65 same price as Mutton Briyani. Soo expensive and so little the portion. We ordered Teh O Ais Limau.. But end up getting Teh Ais. Waitress please be more aware of the orders taken. We are not there for Free. We pay for it. Try to give us the good food good quality. Hopefully the Management can take action and improve the quality. Its not about money we pay.. But the quality was out. Not worth for money. Please take action on this issues. I don't want to give false review.. Its my own and true review. Thanks

The so called owner, am Indian female was super rude. I have been a loyal customer to this restaurant since they have opened. Not only she was rude, she shouted at me.

The restaurant was closed on a Saturday at 12.20pm. when I asked, she said only take aways are available because they are short of staffs. I casually asked her why aren't they hiring. She gave a very racist answer, saying that Malaysians don't come for work and they always run away. This was a bad stereotyping about locals. As a true Malaysian, I cannot take this comment lightly. I told her that they just need to be a better employers and screen the employees properly before hiring them. I told them they have to do the necessary to hire locals as well and cannot depend solely on immigrant workers especially during this current situation. This was the trigger. She hated that I was giving my opinions expressed and suggestions in front of her employees. I told her that why don't they update their Google status saying they are only open for take away.

I told her that we drive long way and park our cars at proper parking spot after circling for good 20 minutes. When we finally reach the restaurant, it is so disappointing that no done in available. It's frustrating. And this is my encounter. Last week, they were closed for dinner time too. They reopened at 7.30pm.

I honestly told her that if this keep happening, no one will return to this restaurant. And she had the audacity to shoot at me saying "thank you, please don't next time". Is this how they treat a customer who is nothing but been loyal to them?

They might be a big franchise who has lots of restaurants around the world, but their big chunk of business does come from respective locals. I just have a big question. Would they responded the same way if this was in Dubai? Are Malaysians...
