I recently dined at this restaurant, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment our food arrived, it was clear that the quality was far from what I had anticipated. We ordered a rava thosai, but what we received was more accurately described as an "oil thosai." It was excessively greasy, and to add to the disappointment, it didn't even resemble the typical shape or texture of a proper rava thosai. It felt as though the essence of the dish was completely lost.

While the idli was decent, and the podi was flavorful, the portion of oil provided with it was minimal—barely enough to enjoy the dish as intended. It felt like an afterthought rather than a carefully crafted accompaniment. And then there was the coffee. To put it bluntly, it was the worst I’ve ever had. It lacked the richness and aroma that one would expect from a good cup of coffee, leaving me completely dissatisfied.

Given these experiences, I can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was overpriced and fell far short of being delicious. In fact, I’ve had far better meals from street stalls, where the food is both affordable and flavorful. This restaurant, on the other hand, failed to deliver on even the most basic expectations. It’s a place I won’t be returning to, and I would advise others to seek better dining options elsewhere.

Adding more, they offered two types of sambar which tasted exactly same. I don't even know what's...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at MTR - Mavalli Tiffin Rooms, @KL,Malaysia and it was an exceptional experience that I can't recommend highly enough!

The ambience at MTR KL is truly inviting. The decor beautifully combines traditional Indian elements (history depicted on the wall)with a modern touch, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The comfortable seating and well-thought-out lighting (across the 2 floors)enhanced the dining experience, making it perfect for both casual meals with friends and family gatherings. The food is nothing short of spectacular. Each dish is a celebration of authentic South Indian cuisine, showcasing rich flavors and high-quality ingredients. I particularly enjoyed their Masala Dosa, which was perfectly crispy and flavorful, paired with delicious chutneys. The Rawa Idli was light and fluffy, making it a must-try as well. Every dish was presented beautifully, reflecting the care and attention that goes into their preparation. It's clear that MTR here takes pride in delivering not just food but a culinary experience. The service was equally impressive. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations that enhanced our meal. Their passion for the cuisine truly shines through. In summary, MTR - Mavalli Tiffin Rooms @ KL is a gem that excels in both food and ambience. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic taste of South India in a delightful setting. I look forward to returning and exploring more...

If you’re craving authentic South Indian fare with a legacy that spans nearly a century, MTR 1924 in Brickfields is a must-visit. The restaurant proudly carries its heritage forward from its roots in Bangalore, India, and you can taste that tradition in every bite.

I had the Masala Thosai and it was simply excellent. Perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft, flavourful spiced potato filling inside. It was served with creamy coconut chutney and tangy sambar, both of which complemented the dish beautifully. My friend ordered the Plain Thosai and it was just as good , golden, thin, and crispy with a lovely crunch.

What stood out were the freshly made chutneys, especially the green chutney with its vibrant, herbaceous flavor. The sambar was warm and comforting, packed with authentic South Indian spices.

The service was fast and friendly, with staff who were attentive and welcoming. The space itself was clean, relaxed, and had the comforting aroma of roasted spices and filter coffee in the air.

We also noticed the Michelin 2025 mention on the menu and after the meal, we can confidently say it’s well deserved.

If you're in Brickfields and looking for a South Indian meal that truly delivers in taste and tradition, MTR 1924 is a fantastic choice. We’re already planning a return and next time, the filter coffee is...

Hello everyone! This month, I went to MTR 1924 in Brickfields with my mother and sister. The shop appeared small from the outside, and I was concerned about having to wait for a table, but I did not. The shop is nice and clean, and the crew members treat the food with care and sanitation. In terms of food, it was delicious and not spicy, which is important to mention, and every meal will include the sweet of the day and payasam of the day. When I went there, I had banana kesari and payasam.I can't recall the name of kesari, but both dishes are too sweet for me and my family, despite the fact that we alerted the waitress, Anne. PLEASEx3 try their benne dosa, which is OMG to die for. I recommend the dosa since they utilize authentic ghee. When ordering meals, you can specify whether you want poori, chapati, or dosa. I didn't know they'd provide Tosai with the set, so I purchased more. Regarding the pricing, I was astonished because it was pricey for me, but once in a blue moon spent on delicious cuisine is OK with me; how about you? If you don't mind, why not try it? Forgot we ordered three meals, a benne dosa, filter coffee, and tea. Price was MYR 112.50. I've enclosed the receipt, which you may view later. MUSTTRYONE###
