Jiak Kopi in GMBB Mall is a vibrant tribute to Malaysiaâs Hainanese coffee legacy, where every sip and bite feels like a love letter to local traditions. The ownerâs enthusiasm is contagiousâshe took the time to explain the nuanced differences between Malaysian and Vietnamese coffee (we initially mistook their brew for the latter!), sharing stories about roasting techniques and cultural roots with the warmth of a proud storyteller.
Coffee & Drinks Their Hainan coffee (brewed with beans roasted to perfection) is a masterclass in balance: rich yet smooth, with a depth that lingers. Pair it with their sour plum lime drink, a zesty twist.
Ambiance & Service The retro-modern spaceâthink vintage radios and antique sewing machinesâfeels like a curated time capsule. The ownerâs pride in preserving heritage coffee culture shines through in every detail to Muslim-friendly offerings.
Verdict A must-visit for anyone craving authentic Malaysian flavors and heartfelt hospitality. Jiak Kopi isnât just a coffee shopâitâs a celebration of local identity, where every interaction leaves you feeling seen...
Read moreI love coming to Jiak Kopi for an afternoon pick me up as I work around the area. Iâve been a regular customer for almost 1.5 years now.
I love how there are a wide variety of local drinks, and a good selection of hot food & snacks/cakes, and the pricing is at a good range for me to come back often. Her drinks especially suit my taste, not diluted at all even at the normal ice level.
The ambience of the dine-in cafe is also nice, with chill vibes and lots of decor items that really remind me of my late grandmotherâs home. Itâs familiar and comforting.
Finally, the owner + drinks maker (I guess, Kopista?) Cherrie is so nice. Iâve never seen her with a bad attitude even during peak hour when sheâs swamped with taking orders, serving AND making multiple drinks at once.
I would definitely recommend Jiak Kopi if youâre around the area or at GMBB and are looking for a local Malaysian style drinks/snack or lunch. In fact, Iâve actually brought a couple of friends here already and theyâve all...
Read moreThis is a surprising find. In a quiet retail podium in KL near to Tung Shin Hospital thereâs a small little kopitiam that serves home cooked breakfast staples like nasi lemak, mee Siam, nyonya kuehs, toasted bread, cake etc. Though the menu is rather limited, we were delighted to find that most of the food were very well cooked with quality ingredients. The nasi lemak which is basic with boiled egg, home made sambal, cucumber, roasted peanuts & ikan bilis was surprisingly good as all the ingredients were fresh. The home made kuehs we tried over the two days we were here were very nice too & not overly sweet. The toasted bread was good as they use home made pandan kaya and put quality butter. The Hainan kopi is ok & not sweet. This not a place you would drive all the way for its food but if you happen to be around GMBB for any of its numerous activities then do drop by to...
