You can call this place a retro sushi bar or you could call it a yuppie comfy hangout. Nestled on a corner lot on first floor of plaza GBBM, it is SERIOUSLY hard to locate if you dont have a bad craving for salmon sushi. Manned by two young ladies, this place serves Japanese "bowl" rice, dainty, petite and the portions big enough so that you don't need to call more or even share with your date(many young dating couples drop by after 5pm for early dinner)đ We ordered their salmon shashimi, fried salmon skin and tempura prawns. đ WOW! The salmon skin was in long large pieces, thin, crispy and lovely to bite just to hear its crunchy sound as it melts into your mouth. It comes accompanied by dried shrimp bits sambal - a tad too spicy for my brother but just nice for me. The salmon plate was HEAVENLY! The slices were fresh, thick and really worth its portion for the price we pay. The tempura prawns, done their special way were darker after frying, crunchier due to additional breadcrumbs but all the same fresh and delicious! We finished the order with one cup of matcha green tea, made by dissolving green matcha powder in hot water using the traditional Japanese tea brush. Their offerings are limited - so don't begrudge if they cant offer you red ginger, nitsuke sauce, or even tuna, sea bream or other what-nots of shashimi. But this happens to be the more generous outlet for salmon sashimi and i will...
Read moreOrdered: Salmon supreme Don - RM58 Refreshing sashimi noodle - RM68 Yuri matcha latte - on menu RM15 we paid RM16
Overall great! but would highly recommend to take the don rather than the sashimi noodle, they nicely cook the rice and pairs well with salmon plus I think the salmon portion on the sashimi noodle on the smaller side definitely not worth RM68 (taste so so only) compared to the don. They also have the RM38 cube salmon don, I might come again to eat this next time and if you dont eat raw salmon they do have cooked menu price from RM20++ if I'm not mistaken. Oh and the matcha taste so so only.
Just to point out not sure why on receipt they write "Malay" is it like a some sort of data they are collecting for what race came to their place, I also clearly came with a Chinese partner đ and the price for Yuri Matcha latte stated on menu RM15 but when they key in turns out to be RM16? The place quite small and definitly pricey for the portion.
On the service, they offered a new couple who just came in to sit inside first before us. Only after we pointed out about it they offered us to sit inside (need improvement on the customer...
Read moreVisited Too Yumm Sashimi and ordered the Belly Avo Don and the Smoked Duck Bowl. The food itself was deliciousâthe salmon was buttery and fresh, and the duck was tender rich with flavor. Clearly, the ingredients are of good quality, and the dishes are thoughtfully prepared.
Additionally, while the food was tasty, the portion sizes were quite small relative to the price. For the cost, I expected a bit more substance, especially if dining as a main meal. It feels like you're paying more for premium ingredients (which are indeed fresh) but getting less volume in return.
However, the experience started off on a slightly awkward note. When we arrived, no floor staff greeted us or showed us to a seat, even though the restaurant wasnât busy. We ended up walking straight to the cashier to place our order, which felt a bit impersonal and disorganized. In a casual dining setup, some basic host etiquetteâlike a welcome or seating guidanceâgoes a long way in making guests feel attended to.
Overall, Too Yumm Sashimi delivers on flavor and ingredient quality, particularly with their fresh salmon and well-prepared...
