Just had a delightful (and massive!) scoop of matcha ice cream at Matcha Eight in LaLaport, and I'm still dreaming about it. If you're a matcha lover, this place is a must-visit!

The creaminess of the matcha ice cream was truly exceptional. It had that luxurious, melt-in-your-mouth texture that speaks to high-quality ingredients. What impressed me even more was the perfectly balanced sweetness. It wasn't cloying at all, allowing the authentic, slightly earthy notes of the matcha to really shine through. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which always elevates an experience. They patiently offered us samples of their other matcha and houjicha variations, ranging from subtly sweet to intensely matcha-forward. This was a fantastic way to understand their offerings and find the perfect flavor profile. Speaking of flavor, they highly recommended their Number 5 matcha, and I can see why! The aroma alone was intoxicating, a deep and vibrant green tea scent that promised a strong matcha experience. The taste definitely delivered, with a bold and satisfying bitterness that true matcha enthusiasts will adore. Even the cone was noteworthy – crisp and with a pleasant flavor that complemented the ice cream beautifully.

The portion sizes are generous! While the quality is undeniable, the sheer quantity might make you question the value for money. It's definitely a generous serving, so come prepared or consider sharing!

Overall, Matcha Eight LaLaport is a fantastic spot for authentic and high-quality matcha ice cream. While the price point might be a little steep for the size, the exceptional creaminess, balanced sweetness, helpful staff, and particularly the aromatic and intense Number 5 matcha make it a worthwhile treat for any matcha aficionado. The ice creams themselves was excellent quality but coordination in receiving the products was sketchy, management did sincerely reach out to understand and acknowledge the situation therefore rating has been revised accordingly through my own accord As a first time customer, had placed an order around 5.30pm through their website which says delivery of the product will be coordinated from 11am-5pm the next day.

Apart from an automated email, there was no response until late the next day (late 3pm). From 1pm onwards tried to contact them as was worried there was no update on delivery timing especially for their product which requires a freezer (no response on email, no response on all listed numbers through call/whatsapp).

In the end delivery of the product was coordinated around 3-4pm, but response was patchy

The products itself: Packaging of the products are good (nice paperbag + sturdy tub) Product arrived in good condition (still frozen not melted) Tastewise the ice-cream is excellent

After the incident, management did reach out to understand the situation. Was appreciative they acknowledged the situation with a sense of responsibility to improve on their business processes which was genuine and sincere.

Therefore the service recovery and product quality standards has convinced me to give them a second go...

Disappointed by the service despite good ice cream.

I visited the shop around 9pm today, well before their listed closing time at 10pm. I was genuinely excited to try the different matcha ice cream flavours, which was what drew me to this place in the first place. However, the service I received was disappointing.

When I asked the staff (the only lady in the shop at the time) whether I could try 4 flavours, she didn’t answer my question but instead responded with an impatient expression and asked bluntly, “Which one you wanna try?” I tried just one flavour and was still considering which matcha variation I wanted. While I was still deciding, she abruptly said she would give me the "balanced" one and proceeded to scoop it for me without waiting for my confirmation. I never got the chance to try the other flavours or choose the one I preferred.

The overall interaction made me feel like I was being rushed out, even though the shop was still open for another hour. It was a disappointing experience — not because of the ice cream itself, which was actually good — but because of how the staff handled the situation.
