The place is nice and comfortable, but the details could be managed A LOT better. Appliances are good but they’re quite dated. Coffee machine in the room is for a brand that no longer makes their coffee capsules (not Nespresso), so it‘s almost impossible to find capsules. In fact, I did try to look for it extensively, but actually didn’t end up finding any. DVD players included and for sound system, but not useful as who uses DVDs nowadays. My room had an iPod docking speaker. Also not really useful as who still uses iPods to dock. TVs are good but also quite dated.
Rice cooker and blender available on request. But the first rice cooker they gave me didn’t work at all, so had to ask for another one which was then fine. Blender also had a piece that was warped or broken so didn’t really work either.
Kitchen tap has no hot water (wasn’t working) even though there’s a switch to turn on hot water. Shower hot water also didn’t work, only very lukewarm water. Asked them to come fix but wasn’t successful and I didn’t want to make a fuss about it, but I think this should be better monitored and checked before guests check in. Bathroom sink does have hot water, so I think the flat is capable of hot water, but there are faults somewhere in the kitchen and shower.
Shower body wash provided in a pump. The pump is broken so didn’t work efficiently. Shampoo also provided but weird there’s no conditioner.
A flip chart is provided for reference and manual on how to operate appliances. But not all appliances are covered, which is odd. Some are missing so I Googled it. Most appliances are straightforward but some do have icons that you won’t know what they mean unless you had a reference. Would be good to make sure that the flip chart covers all appliances.
Bathroom sliding door lock was broken and off position, so doesn’t lock. I did a temporary fix myself to get it sort of working.
Wifi connection is slow and disconnects every now and then. Connection required logging in via browser. This two step security makes it difficult for guests to use smart tv sticks and devices (e.g. Chromecast or Fire stick). I ended up creating a workaround by setting up a wifi hotspot but with the slow wifi, it wasn’t ideal. Would be a much better experience if guests could connect directly to the wifi without the browser step.
Eating utensils provided are nice, but was limited. Only 2 of each. Would’ve been nice to have a bit more provided by default, especially for long stay guests so we don’t have to keep washing.
Some plates provided are too big to fit in the dishwasher. So you either wash them by hand or place them in awkward tilted positions. Would be nice if this was better thought out and to have plates that fit.
Collecting parcels and deliveries was a bit odd. Sometimes they give us or tell us, but many times they don’t even tell us and we don’t know. Especially one time when we were waiting for groceries to be delivered - we didn’t know it arrived and it was just sitting with reception. Not ideal as we had some things that needed to be in the fridge and freezer.
Inventory checks were a bit of a mystery to me and weren’t explained. I checked in and out at odd hours because of my flight times, so I had inventory checks done on separate days. Don’t really understand the purpose of them, especially when I paid a deposit and they checked the room again when I checked out. Maybe this can be better streamlined?
Apart from the details, I did enjoy my stay. Furniture felt premium and high end. Rooms and apartments were very spacious. Staff was friendly and professional. Gym was well equipped and spacious. Pool was nice. Terrace was amazing with amazing views, two floors, lots of space and couches to chill or work, and outdoor rooftop patio area for smoking or hanging out. Mac computers and billards pool table also available for use at the top, though no one told us about this. Would be nice to mention. Location also great, super central, walkable and short Grab rides...
Read moreI spent four days in Kuala Lumpur for leisure and had spent a long time searching for a traditional hotel, only to find them to either very expensive or very small. Through my search, I happened onto Lanson Place which has had rave reviews by previous guests and so I opted to stay here for four nights.
I am glad to say that I could not be more happy with my choice! I stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the 12th floor. The property itself has 48 floors, although in a city of tall buildings/skyscrapers, this may not seem immediately apparent.
Check-in: The checkin was seamless and welcoming. I had pre-booked/paid but had to leave a deposit in USD (or Ringgit) which was refundable on departure. There was a good explanation of the facilities, including gym, pool area, lounge and the room itself. I was offered assistance as well to take my bag to the room but this was not necessary.
Room/apartment: I stayed in a one bedroom flat which would be ideal for a couple or those with a young family. I understand that there are also two bedroom flats available. The flat is spacious, high ceilinged and well lit. Most importantly, it was spotlessly clean and dust free and has a LOT of storage space as well as a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, oven and washer/dryer. The sitting room has a large L-shaped sofa and the bed room a large, king sized bed with a range of pillows and cupboards including a safe The bathroom is similarly large, with a walk in shower and the usual amenities including towels, toothbrush, vanity kit etc There are a couple of small convenience stores just a couple of hundred metres away in case one wishes to get food and drinks for snacking or cooking
Lounge: The lounge and gym are on the 48th floor with direct access through speedy lifts available for the resident The lounge is split over two levels and includes spacious sitting areas, work desks, computers, a pool table and most impressively, an impressive view of the surrounding area including views of the Menara 118, the second tallest building in the world! Its worth taking a camera to take snaps of the area as you’ll be pressed to get a better view A breakfast is also served for MYR 63.50 per adult in the lounge until 1030. I did not have this myself.
Gym: The gym is well equipped with brand new techno gym equipment, free weights and resistance bands The gym is comparatively small given the size of the property but I was mostly alone whenever I went. There were towels and water provided and again, the views during the workout were excellent Additionally, the gym was spotlessly clean with no semblance of dust and dirt on any of the equipment
Pool: The pool is on the 5th floor of the property It is also shared by a number of surrounding buildings and has a few pool areas. The main pool is an Olympic length pool for lane swimming with lounge chair around it A second long infinity pool and associated children’s pool and a jacuzzi that could easily accommodate 8 or 10 people at once (if needed) There was additionally a couple of cafe areas that were closed in the morning but i understood were open through the day serving drinks and food On the inside were a couple of meeting rooms, a small library and a children’s play area. All in all, a family could comfortably spend a day by the pool. Additionally, given the height of the buildings, there is a built in protection against the sun and heat with a cool feeling near the pool
The local area: The local area had an upmarket feel and was extremely quiet even at the peak of the day There are a number of bars and restaurants within a five minutes walk and about fifteen minutes away is a very large central shopping district where one can find absolutely anything The main sites like the Petronas twin towers and Batu cave are about a twenty to thirty minutes car ride away. There are also public transport options as well.
All in all, well worth staying at, whether for a few days or...

We loved every minute of our 2 month stay at Lanson Place! It was like the Four Seasons...but better!
Our first impression was this is a beautiful, clean, modern & luxurious place to stay. Then were personally greeted by the general mgr, Mr. Anson Chan at check in. We were impressed by his level of care and personal attention.
Once in our apartment there was a fruit basket and a hand written note waiting for us. But, the incredible views of the Patronas & KL Towers took our breath away!
Our apartment: 1 bedroom apt room #3103 was 914 square feet very reasonably priced, which incl. all utilities & 3x a week maid service.
The flat was impeccably clean. I’m very picky and OCD about cleanliness! I’m the type of person that cleans the apartment before we unpack. There was no dirt to be found!
Our apartment had a washer & a dryer, dishwasher, oven, marble bath, fluffy robes, tons of storage, surround sound w/ 40 “ smart tv’s, automatic black out roll down shades in bedroom, very comfy bed, pillow menu, sectional couch ( both of us had our own space at night) kitchen island and desk to work from. Additionally there’s a large gym, 2 giant pools, cafe and a mini convenience store...next to the pool. Plus, a shuttle van that runs several times everyday, to and from several locations around the city is included.
During our stay Mr. Chan made us feel like family. We were invited to several functions he put together for residents at Lanson Place. We went to a NYE party, hiking with monkeys and dim sum. But we were literally shock when Mr. Anson Chan threw a surprise BIRTHDAY PARTY for me! 😱 It made me cry. I’ll never forget it! He is so kind and thoughtful. I still can’t get over it! Mr. Anson Chan is on top of everything at Lanson Place.
The fabulous Jenny Goh, head of housekeeping, personally meet us at the apt . She made sure everything was perfect. She also offered a water dispenser rental, which kept us from having to lug home heavy water bottles home! Hendra went above and beyond taking care of us during our stay. John the driver was a delight. He had lots of suggestions and wonderful stories about KL!
It was an amazing stay with so many wonderful people from around the world. It felt like home at Lanson Place.
A big thank you to everyone else I didn’t mention by name. You only need to ask...and anything we needed was done!
As digital nomads traveling the world these past 2 years we’ve stayed at over 100 accommodations. Plus, hundreds or thousands more over our lifetime... Lanson Place and Mr. Anson Chan are the BEST!
It is very easy and comfortable living at Lanson Place!
Forgot to mention we were with in walking distance to restaurants, bars and Jalan Alor street food market.
We will be back!
Kindest regards, Scott and Shelley Weier Weier...
