Read moreOne of the best semi fine dine Malay food restaurants I've ever visited. The Malay food dishes they serve here is pretty delicious like 5 star type in terms of taste and quality. Their appetizer popiah goreng was so crispy and tasty with their chili sauce dip. Ordered 3 lauk and 2 white rice.
Their highlight, the Opor Rusuk means slow cooked beef ribs, was the tastiest and soft beef I've tasted in a long time. And it's also one of the expensive ones but super worth it. Their ikan siakap masak lemak was very tasty as well. Might not be that spicy, I'm guessing to cater for potential expats who are eating the food. But it's still delicious and fresh fish. And also they have chili sambal eggplant, also yummy too. Their drinks, especially juices, are also freshly made.
I was surprised that all lauk are quite big portion too. It can actually cater for 3-4 pax, so be aware when ordering. We couldn't finish it, so we take away and brought it home.
The ambience of the place is expected, low light and great easy listening background music to fit the mood. Might have to reserve your table online on their website just to be safe. Parking may be a challenge a bit that you gotta find some random parking space outside nearby or just park at a valet and walk. Perfect for couples or group of friends. Price wise is actually quite reasonable for the taste and how big the portion is. For 2 person dinner with several lauk and rice, just get ready about 250-300 max. It could be lesser if order lesser.
Highly recommended if want to have a great ambience, great Malay food and great laid back time. Plus it's near to changkat, so you can walk to changkat after dinner if want to explore other...
Read moreIt was our first visit to Bijan. Given the high ratings of this restaurant, we certainly have a higher expectation but we later find out expectation not met.
Appetizer - Cucur Bijan Upon the first bite we know something is wrong with the tempeh, it taste like vomit (we both love tempeh and we know it shouldn't taste like this). I give it another bite with lots of chili sauce and it still won't cover the vomit taste. So we notify the waitress and send the dish back. Later on she came apologize saying they tasted and verified the dish indeed taste horrible and probably was "out for too long", and ask us if we would like to switch to another appetizer. Here's the issue: given that we just being served a bad dish using rotten ingredient, I'm expecting the management to either give us another appetizer free of charge, or offer us something else on the house as a compensation (as other restaurant I went they will definitely compensate us something), but they didn't.
Main - Ayam Kampung Limau Purut, Asparagus Goreng Belacan, Nasi Minyak Dishes are just alright, nothing to shout out. Only the Nasi Minyak is memorable, fragrant rice pair well with the fruit relish (I think is made of dates) but the acar is too sour.
Dessert - Chocolate Durian Cake Slightly under expectation. It could be better by using fresh durian flesh to make it creamier.
Drink - Fruit Punch Mocktail & Terbang to Langit Cocktail Mocktail and cocktail are decent.
Conclusion: Based on what we had, we will not...
